There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Hi y'all, yup my license plate light cover is somewhere between here and where I started. The light still works, it just looks bad.

I'm in McKinney right now and hoping it's ok to ride like this up to Springfield to get fixed??? No rain forecasted.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Since you're not looking at any rain: go ahead and make tracks!
Do you have any idea why it decided to jump ship on you?

Woo Hoo! That's what I was hoping to hear. Thanks!

It jumped ship because it's an OEM BRP unmodified product. Had the same issues with the early GS/RSs. Putting a silicon seal on it keeps it on. Didn't do it to my F3.

if your worried about it see if you can get some clear plastic tape to put over it for now

Have ridden with worse light problems on the road. Just concerned about small town LEOs.

If they notice that the lens has gone missing: let them know (with a BIG smile :D...), that you're on your way to get it fixed.

As an LEO I feel you are ok as long as the light works properly. I'm not aware of any state statues requiring a lens cover. Most require working lights . Just my opinion. YMMV.

In California it's illegal to show white light to the rear of a moving vehicle, so the missing light could result in a "fix-it ticket" . They get cancelled when proof of a repair is presented to a CHP office.

Turn on that "charm" if you encounter a LEO. Your headed for a fix it--it's just down the road a bit. And...drive safe.

Since it is a license plate light on the rear of the vehicle it should be a white light.

A license plate light is pointed down and shielded from direct view to the rear. It illuminates the plate, but doesn't shine to the rear. The red lamp would be a temporary fix to avoid a ticket. Another would be to coat the white bulb's side and end with red or orange nail polish. That way the white light would be down and it would show red or orange to the rear.

Heard different opinions on the matter at Spyderfest....

- A white light on the back of your Spyder in not good. A LEO said the white light can distract or shine in the drivers eyes. Paint the light bulb red with an oil-based paint.

- Some, who remain unknown, don't have a light shining on their license plates. They have never been pulled over by the LEOs for a light offense.

There are exposed electric connections showing on my broken tail light and it's supposed to rain here. So, I removed the light bulb and wrapped the the exposed metal plate and connections with electrical tape. The tape is black to match my F3. ;)

I don't ride much at night and my F3 is well lit. Case closed till I get back home.

Joy,
Glad to hear that you made it there safely...
Is there any way that you could have Len take a look at it, and perhaps make some magic happen? :dontknow:

Tail Light Cover

I have a 2013 St and I had the same thing happen to me. At first I thought somebody had stolen it until I unscrewed the screw and saw the little piece of plastic around the screw and realized the it had somehow fallen off the bike(?). From BRP you have to buy the entire tail light assy. Ran me around $50. Never did find out where it fell off.

Do you still have a Kenda tyre in the rear? Reason for asking is that my wife bike lost 2 of these when it was using Kenda tires.....since it is switched to a Kumho, never happended again...also the rear fender side braces tearing up did not happen since the tire switch.... mind you the rear lense is not shaking anymore when riding with the Kumho tire.... it says a lot...!!!! ;) :dontknow:
