• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Finally bought me the Spyder.

:welcome: & :congrats:

You made a good choice with the RED one. They're the fastest, you know. You're wife being so enthusiastic makes me think you'll be a 2-Spyder household before too long!

a good TIP

Hello everyone, I am new here. I just purchased a 2016 Spyder RT-S SE6. I have been riding quads (ATV's) for over 20 years and when the Spyder came out I was in love, I have been telling my wife for a decade I wanted one. I finally talked my wife into looking at one and OMG she fell in love with a blue one, we mounted it but couldn't test drive because I had no motorcycle permit. 2 days later I'm taking the test, I pass and we go back and it was sold, my wife was not happy, but they told us they had a red one in the crate still, same price. She would not let it get away, I'm nervous like crazy and she just keeps telling me she wants it (I couldn't believe it), I test drove a used one and bought the red one in the crate that day.

I love it!! Its been a couple weeks and I have 500 miles on it already. There's a few things I'm getting used to, like the wind at 70 mph. The throttle, I'm used to the thumb throttle on a quad, every once in a while I am parking or just slowing down and I give it gas without thinking about it, good thing I have the brake on. I am getting better at curving, they say its like quads but its a little different (especially the speeds), I have read a lot, the manual and the do's and don'ts and many posts. I'm still a little confused on the RPM's and shifting. After doing a lot of research I have learned to take it easy the first 10 minutes, I was shifting between 3600-4000RPM but have noticed the smoothest is around 3300-3400 RPM. Is this OK? I do have another question, I will be driving at 60 MPH a lot and I want to know if in cruise control you would be in 5th gear at 3500 RPM or 6th gear at 3100 RPM? Thanks in advance, and any advice is appreciated.

here is what I do when the bike is at rest(stop sign) I just remove my hands from the handle bars(throttle) and wait till its time to go before placing them on handlebars, therefore eliminating any chance of giving it throttle and then you have a run-away bike..try it youll get used to it..

I really enjoy my wife riding with me. Just this last Saturday we decided to go out for some BBQ. So, we hoped on the RT-S, rode up a nice boulevard, toured around a large park/lake and finally landed at the restaurant. You'll find that when you are on the Spyder, your destination is not always in a straight line. One more reason to do something as a couple.

Be prepared to buy another one for your wife, My wife had never ridden a bike by herself, fell in love with mine and went out and bought her own. In one year she put 25,000 miles on it and now has another new one as she wanted the triple . Welcome to the club and happy riding !

Thank you all for the warm welcome

I look forward to getting to know you all, thanks for the advice and the invites. My wife and I both ended up liking the red one better, I think my wife just fell in love with the Spyder itself.
I do have another question, What do you do with your golf clubs, guns, fishing poles, etc. after buying one of these?

hahahahahah

here ya go ---------> fishing poles in the center of the tarp , the golf clubs at the sides of the tarp , now you have a mobile storage tent :roflblack:

Welcome from another newbie, the folks here are all helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, not sure about the other eight. :welcome:

Just got my 17 RT Ltd

I finally gave in and sold my 1700 Kawasaki Voyager and bought a 2017 RT Ltd. last Thursday. I put 500 miles on it over the weekend and I have to say, I absolutely love it. I have already ordered an extended brake pedal, mounted Spyder highway pegs and drink holders.

:welcome: and :congrats: glad you joined us, we are here to help, ask questions. Let the smiles, miles, farkling begin! :nopic:
