There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. lost spyder's rear fender...

That make more than a few people with this problem now. I wonder if or when BRP will make an official statement about this.

wow i think i would be highly ticked off if i lost my rear fender especially since around here you have to file a police report before you can get a new license plate.

Not good. I can just imagine riding around NE on some of our poorly maintained roads is not going to help.

I don't think he meant that he LOST the rear fender--- just that he 'lost' it--- as in it is broken to the point of no longer useable. It would make a pretty good noise falling off--- and being drug by the cables to the light--- but I suppose it could happen.

Mine has the starting signs of the same problem.

Brian and deb both have the same problem.

Of all places they probably should have used plastic instead of metal---- looks like this was it!

firefly is correct.
it completely tore all the way thru one side and was barely dangling one side.
dealer ordered parts and said no reason why this should not be an warranty repair but while i was there a porter hit my spyder while he was moving another bike:cus: and my luck with this spyder continues...

also, when they did the 12000 service, they did not do y-gasket replacement, coolant replacement, brake fluid replacement and bearings so they are doing that also. i had my suspicion when i got the spyder back from them but i did not say anything but when y-gasket started to leak i called on the mechanic who worked on my spyder, looked him in the eye and asked him and he admitted not doing them things...
i knew the can am mech in training did the work under supervision of master mechanic and he may not be familiar with the whole process.
i told the dealer i will give you benefit of the doubt that this is not your regular practice to charge people and not do the work and it was just a new mechanic not familiar with the maintanance routines. i told them to re-check the valves also even thou that's basically only thing it was done "supposedly" and they agreed.

Sorry to hear about your problems, but that raises a serious question regarding "inspection" service.... such as the valve clearance, rear wheel bearing, etc..... I know they write it on the report and they certainly charge you an outrageous amount for these inspections but how can you be certain that they are actually doing these checks and not just checking a box and moving on then billing you for work that didn't get done??? That really concerns me!

aka1004: Did they charge you for those 12K service items that you say that you know or suspect that they didn't do?

Yes I was charged for them. They have set price for 12000 mile service that includes everything on brp's list. They just took amount off for oil change and spark plugs which I have done before I took it in for 12k service.

We are at mercy of the dealer somewhat and have to be vigilant and ask question if something does not look right, talk to mech who will be working on your spyder. If a mech decides not to do valve check and just write down appropriate number in I will never be able proove it was not done thou.

That's what I am afraid of. I eventually plan on doing my own valve checks, just most of the time I don't have the time to do it. I have very small trust for just about any mechanic out there unless I know them personally which is why I learned to work on my own vehicles.

i was wondering what else can go wrong with my spyder...

Deb's Spyder was that bad, mine just had the start of cracks. Regardless, I guess I'll be taking her rear fender supports to the dealer now so they can inform BRP of the condition too. For a while, I was thinking this was self induced but now it appears it may be a problem with the fender support metal.

more i look at it more i like the no rear fender look:D
all the parts are supposed to be here tuesday i don't know if i want them on there now...

yeah I hear ya! I love the look of no fenders at all! Was talking to my dealer and he said it wasn't a good idea to take the front ones off cuz since we hit bad weather once in a while, all the rain will go into the airbox and I guess it's not good. But hell, back fender off? That will look sweet! Only thing, wonder if you'll get a fountain of water leading up your back on rainy days.? I watch friends of ours with a Harley Nightrain - he's got that bobtail fender. If we hit rain, his girlfriend gets the fountain up her back.

yes that is THE concern.
i don't wanna spray vehicles behind me but we don't get much rain here AND how much ryding in rain will i do plus most crotch rockets don't have rear fenders right?
i wonder if i will get pulled over for not having a rear fender to shed water.
