I remember Dubliner saying a while back that the Spyders in peoples photos on this forum always looked spotless, so just to prove that's not always the case...

This is what my Spyder looked like after doing 3556 km (2209 miles) in a weekend. As you can probably tell, some dirt roads were included in the route

The route had some pretty bad sections, including a dried up river bed to one checkpoint. It didn't get through completely unharmed, having lost a bar end and cracked the bottom mounts of both pannier frames, but I'm amazed that's all considering what was asked of it. It did me proud.

Quite impressive! I cannot do that many miles in a weekend. My hats off to you. Also impressed that you did that type of riding, in those conditions, without a taller windshield.

Must have been a great ryde....no time to clean up when doing that kinda of ryding. I usually wipe her down with WD40 before known long dirty ryde cause it makes it a snap to clean up after....Well she deserves a good bubble bath....:roflblack: I'm sure you had as much fun as she did...:thumbup:

2200 plus miles in a weekend? I guess you are much more than a "casual" rider. :bowdown::bowdown::firstplace::firstplace:

I thought that 1500 miles was pretty good. We did that when we bought the 2011. Picked up on Friday and twice the break-in service mileage on Monday. It was a fun weekend though. :yes:

Here, while officially they like to think of themselves as 'Far Riders' :shocked: they often get called 'Hard Arse' riders instead!

Dunno what they call them in the Land of the Long White Cloud, but the riding I've been lucky enough to do over there has only whet my appetite for doing a whole lot more! Besides, their miles aren't ever as boring as some of ours can be!?! :thumbup:

I think the normal term is "those mad idiots"

It was the annual TT2000 where you have to do a minimum of 2000km in 48 hours and collect a minimum number of points by visiting checkpoints where you photograph the checkpoint, your bike and a t-shirt they give you at the start. The checkpoints are normally off the beaten track.

There were just under 100 riders this year. The majority of bikes are adventure bikes, followed by tourers. I was the only Spyder again this year. will be a week or so before we get the results through to show how many points, kms etc everyone got and if any dropped out.

Ok results are in:
96 riders + 8 pillions were registered for the event

8 riders dropped out (1 accident, 3 mechanical, 1 retired, 3 under mileage or points).

Highest mileage and points was the only Spyder rider - yours truly

On our 2015 trip to Alaska I took pictures of the group and thought that I was looking at a picture of my black RT-622 trailer but it was a white trailer instead. The Spyders got so dirty that it was nearly impossible to insert your key in the rear saddlebags. One of the riders in our group (RFun) would wash his Spyder each night at the hotel by filling a garbage can with water, while the rest of us just had to guess which Spyder was theirs. :roflblack:
