There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. HEAD LIGHTS

I have seen post on here referring to overdriving the headlights on Rt's. I wonder has anyone put driving lights on the front fenders? Possibly too heavy or too much shake. I am curious though. If possible, they could also be effective as turning lights. Lights not turn signals.

There are quite a few driving lights available that are light enough to consider mounting them up on the fenders...
But there are also lots of vendors in here, that can supply you with mounts for the A-arms.
It's your money: your choice!

LIGHTS

Diy'ers ROCK ...... there have been a few here who have put some after-market ( like from E-bay ) LED's on the " A" arms or on the fender bracket's ...... I would only do LED's, because of the shock & vibrations - led's do much better........ I have seen small self contained LED's that could be mounted on top of the fender but how it would look IMHO would be the issue !!! .... If you want incredible light at a great price just get Lamont's LED headlight KIT for the RT, it has a super bright focused LED that others here say improves the night riding a lot ...... Mike

I've got the TricLEDs version of these types of lights, and :agree:.

THANKS

I really appreciate the input. My old eyes need some of this young LED type lighting. Yes I agree LED would be the only way to go due to the vibration.

Let's see....

Have seen many on the A arms and just recently someone here did mount, or was going to mount, them on the fender braces. I would worry about the vibrations. Have never heard how well they do on either. I just went a different way and just adjust them to the berms so I can do country roads as the light fades...

Chupaca, what are your lights mounted to? They do not appear to be on the A arms.

They are mounted to the air dam with a backing plate and wired to them battery with switches on their handlebar. ..20160818_115326.jpg

Here's a pic of th 2012 RT I had. I mounted auxiliary LED work lights from SuperbrightLEDs.com right on the inside of the fender. Vibration was not a problem.

Driving Lights

I also opted to install the TricLED LED driving lights. They also come with an adjustable on/off/dimmer type switch. I have the lights mounted just forward of the wiring channel on each fender. (See pic) I was concerned about vibration while riding but so far have not seen any issue and they are VERY bright and light up the road ahead well. I opted to mount the dimmer switch inside the left speaker grill insert. (see photo). I chose this location for several reasons, one for ease of access and two, If I messed up drilling hole it would only cost me a speaker grill!!;). I thought the wiring provided though was a bit short for proper wiring management. I increased the length of the wire going to the right side driving light.

I like this. Thanks.

Light

I some of you mounted lights on the front fender. they must be very small because there is less then 2 inches of clearance left after you turn the handle bar lock to full lock.

That's why I mounted mine in the center, right over the axle. Distance to the body changes very little.

If you're travelling too fast, to react to what you can see with your lights: you probably should just slow down anyway... nojoke
Throwing more light down the road is great; it still doesn't show you everything that can "jump into view". :yikes:
It's always better to get home a couple of minutes late; than not at all.

While that is very true, having lights that at least allow you to keep up with the flow of traffic would be much appreciated!
