Question re: Bluetooth operation

I have the BRP bluetooth installed on my 2014 RT Limited but it doesn't operate properly. When the phone rings through the GPS and I answer, I can hear the caller once, but when I speak once into the headset, the call is completely dropped. I have tried to change things by turning off the VOX, the intercom and turned down the radio volume, but I have the same result.

Any thoughts?

I had that issue for awhile, too. Check your phone's bluetooth settings. In the area that shows the bluetooth connections to devices, make sure that the phone is either not paired to the gps, or if it is, (mine is for traffic info), make sure that it is paired for data only, not calls. That fixed it for me.

I forgot to mention that I have the "wired" headset rather than the wireless headset. Since I get the signal directly from the GPS (which has been paired with my iPhone), do I really need the wireless dongle?

I've had that problem using an iPhone and the Garmin GPS on my '14. Turns out I can only make or answer 1 call successfully, then the next call operates as you described.

My less-than-eloquent solution is to power cycle the Garmin after each call.

Thanks for the reply. This afternoon I will disconnect the antenna wire from the dongle to the GPS see what happens. Hopefully the bluetooth in the GPS will function through the wired headsets without the assistance of the dongle. If it does, then the dongle can be removed entirely. The dongle was on the bike when I bought it but I have no paperwork with it. I found the installation instructions on line, but cannot find the operations manual.

We shall see.
