• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Pot Hole Breeding Season in Michigan

Our dirt roads are now In Rut while their pot holes lustfully multiply unchecked until the county graders resurface from hibernation next Spring. So, alas, after one last valiant, land-mine-dodging trek to the nearest pavement for our final (freezing) 2016 ryde, my beloved road warrior, Spyke, has settled into her den with a tummy full of premium petrol and a nightcap of Stabil. She reluctantly passes the baton to her stablemate, Polly the Polaris, who chomps at the bit to bulldoze her mistress over, under, and through terrain that Spyke can only shudder to imagine. Sleep well, my princess. Don't fight the battery tender which tethers your wings to the earth. We shall fly again someday.

Your county repaves roads in the Spring? I'm jealous. Here they wait until the Fall to repave. That way the roads are good maybe a couple of months before the salt and trucks start to destroy them again.

There are some days I really hate the Northeast.

Ahhh yes..

Here they will repair the roads to the beaches in the summer and the roads to the mountains in the winter . .:banghead::banghead:

No repavement, they just grade the dirt/gravel roads. I live on and am surrounded by non pavement.

The county owns my dirt road but they don't do any maintenance. It's up to the property owners

Well stated. :bowdown::bowdown::firstplace::firstplace:

During my travels for vocational expeditions, I was always amazed by the number of unpaved roads in Michigan. Most people would not understand your comments, but I can appreciate it.

"Pot-hole BREEDING Season"?
:shocked:
That has got to be an ugly sight!

Wouldn't they want a little privacy, for that sort of thing? :dontknow:

I was amazed too, when we first moved here from upstate NY which had plenty of unpaved roads, but they were made of shale, which could be highly unstable on the hills as it crumbled beneath you, and ultimately very irregular in surface contour . I was thrilled at the dirt roads around here because they're far superior for horsebacking, despite the occasional top dressing of gravel which makes it miserable for the first year until it packs into the dirt, and forever after unpleasant for a week or so following each grading.

:D A favorite slow-dancing song of mine: Thanks for reminding me of how great it STILL sounds! :2thumbs:

They don't make music like they used to! I sound SO old saying this, but most of today's "music" is just frenzied noise to me, and who can tell if they've got a good voice or good lyrics when they're drowned out with backup singers and instrumentals?
