There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. And yes, I did multiple searches but couldn't find anything....... ;)

Very nice! Should work great, unless you have the fog lights installed. I have a flexible aluminum one installed in mine. I think Lamonster was the first one that recommended fresh air intake.

He's a little free with his "First and Only" statements. I'm pretty sure I was the first to do a cold air intake on the Spyder and he's still claiming he has the first and only trailer hitch too.

I will say he will have the first and maybe only lawsuit when his poor design of a hitch fails and gets somebody hurt or killed.nojoke

I'm sure the tube will work just fine, I just have a problem with a company that claims to be the first and only on everything they make. :sour:

I have the same cold air intake as you Lamont made from the scoop you gave me, and mine has been on my Spyder since Dec. I know your's was on long before that as that's only when I had the time to make mine. I think your's was on for the fall MB rally if I remember correct, so that had to be early Oct 08.

The problem with making claims like this that aren't quite true, is that sooner or later somebody calls you out on it, and then after that it really hurts the value of your word.

Dense cool air is always a good idea.

What I'm wondering about is the air temperature data that is being fed into the ECU.
I know that my unit reads really high temps any time you stop the Spyder and that those temps do not return to reasonable levels untill after a prolonged ride at speed.
My temp readings in town on an 89F day were 128!
That's giving bad data to the ECU which will cause the Spyder to run lean in response.
And yes, my temp sensor is properly installed.

Maybe the temp sensor should be relocated to inside the cool air duct.

I agree.

It still bugs me that Rhode Island really isn't one...

Regarding the trailer hitch comment, they've got a disclaimer, for what its worth:
"Customer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Mels Monster Garage and its parents, sister companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, service providers, other End Users, distributors, licensors, officers, directors and employees from any claim, demand or other issues that may arise while using their products."

And $90 seems about 3x too high for a piece of plastic.

I've met Jimmy Mels --- while he's a really nice guy--- I agree about his products - in particular the hitch. Swingarm mounting is just BAD. The 'first and only' got old about a year ago.

I might have the first and only custom cold-air intake that works with the Race Airflow setup.... perhaps I should patent it and sell them on ebay! :roflblack:

Technically they may be splitting hairs with their claims because they may be the only ones "producing" a cold air intake for sale to the public and selling the only "Reese" style hitch. How many places have we all been too claiming the "world's best" coffee, hamburger, BBQ, pizza, etc. Marketing is a pretty free for all arena.

While this fresh air intake might be great I believe most Spyders have the fog light in and then this does not work, I for one would buy it but I plan on putting a set of fog light in so it would not work for me. Lamont has the best air intake set up I have seen but not all of us are so talented to do these things.

Yup - and if you do happen to have the fog lights---- some crowl vents are about your only option.:D

When looking at this listing on Ebay someone asked him a question about the intake and in Mels reply he mentions they now have a 29 tooth front sprocket.I have emailed him to find out more about it,price$ and if it's available . I have not seen a listing for it.

I would guess this disclaimer wouldn't last more than the time it takes to present opening arguments in court. I'm sure they know that it's not much more than a legal fig leaf.

The hitch really concerns me. I guess I'm surprised there have not been failures already. The action and frequency developed behind our long Spyder swing arm is considerable. That's why so many of us have had our license plates come off. I lost mine and it was on there pretty good. (won't happen again)

On smooth roads it's not too bad. But on rough roads (like many places on I-40 from East Tennessee to California) That rear fender really gets a workout.

Not to mention the suspension was not designed to keep the rear tire on the ground with all that additional leverage of trailer tongue and weight changing the dynamics. I would guess the Nanny can handle it but at what cost to braking distance?

I have put on a few miles flying tail gunner for Lamont. It gets boaring sometimes so I while away a little time watching his trailer. Ok, so I'm not normal. Anyway, his trailer doesn't move much at all, bounce, wiggle, hunt, jump, jerk, nothing. It doesn't look like it transmits much to the Spyder either. Even in rough conditions. It is very neutral. Just the way you want a trailer. Especially on a motorcycle.

I don't wish anything on anyone. I hope those hitches last forever and no one has any issues. But I just don't see it going that way.
