• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Question: re intercom

I have a 2014 RT Limited. I have installed the entertainment harness, the CB and wired headsets Everything works except the intercom. The problem appears to be the voice activated system. When I speak, my wife can hear me in her headset and I can tell by the feedback that the mike is open. When I quit speaking, I can tell that the mike shuts off. The voice activation on my wife's helmet does not open her mike and she cannot communicate with me. I believe that the intercom volume is ok (because she can hear me) and my voice activation setting is ok (because I can hear my mike feedback) but i must be doing something wrong. Is there a separate setting for her voice activation?

Does anyone know what I may be missing in trying the set up the intercom? Thanks,

Ken

If you don't have it, get the installation instructions for the CB from here. http://instructions.brp.com/content...ommunication System&rel_part_number=219400611

It has fairly complete instructions about the operation of the CB and communications system and how to adjust the various settings.

I think you probably need to lower the VOX threshold setting. I'm guessing it's low enough to pick up your voice on your mic but not hers on her mic. She does not have a separate VOX setting. Once you have the VOX setting where it needs to be you can adjust your intercom volumes separately.

Thanks for the reply. I will lower the vox and see it that cures my problem

If lowering the VOX setting doesn't cure your problem, have you tried swapping connections yet? In other words, plug your helmet into HER connection and hers in YOUR connection. Seeing if there might be an issue with her mic or harness on her helmet.

Could Mute be on?

I would check the muting function. When you or passenger listen to music, it can be muted by holding the down volume switch for a couple seconds.

That said . . . The SAME thing is true of the passenger intercom volume. If the passenger holds down the volume control too long while VOX is in use (you or passenger are speaking) you will be muted. Talk to the passenger (VOX is on) while "she" presses the up volume and see if that's the problem.

Did you pay more and get the deluxe model wired headsets? If so that's the reason you can't hear her! It's a feature many pay more for.:roflblack:

Only kidding! Sorry but I don't have an answer for you.

Good luck figuring it out.

All good suggestions to try. One other, which you may have thought of already, is to make sure your wife's mic is positioned directly in front of her mouth. That sometimes makes a big difference when using VOX.

Try swapping helmets. I had a situation where my mic wires were broken at the connection in the helmet. The wires are very fine. If I wiggled the wires I could sometimes get it to work. I took the helmet to Sierra Electronics at a rally and they just replaced the mic. No problems after that. FYI: I have J & M headsets.
