Proper rear tire installation

Front end shimmy at 40-48 mph. There sure are a lot of posts about this issue. The dealer here balanced rear tire when installed recently. Front tires were balanced by the dealer. Laser allignment was done. After reading comments here I looked at my tires and counted balancing weights: front left has 6, front right has 2 not together, and the rear has 5 (new tire). I am guessing that the round gold circle on the rear tire is the alignment point. That is 2"-3" from lining up with the air valve. Is that close enough to lining up or is it not. I need to get this resolve. I have some long trips coming up. Thoughts and suggestions please and thank you.

To be clear ..... are you saying the shimmy is only between 40-48 mph and then GOES AWAY ???? .... I find this very ODD if this is the case..................As far as rear tire Balancing goes I balanced my first one ( switching to a car tire ) the next THREE were not balanced AT ALL..... I couldn't tell any difference between them and they all wore as expected................ You don't say what kind of tires you have ????? .....It might make a difference ...... Mike :thumbup:

Sure sounds like a tire problem since it started after the new tires were installed.I would take it back to the dealer have him fix it as it should be smooth.Probably just a bad tire it happens.

If the front tires NEVER had a problem .....until the rear tire was changed, then the rear tire is the issue ......IMHO Kenda's are CRAP and are known to have manufacturing issues far greater than any Car tires !!!!! .... As Ex Winger said, the tire itself could be BAD, ie mis-aligned or broken cord in the tire ....... And to be specific is SHIMMY the same as VIBRATION to you ????? ..... PS it takes quite a lot of BAD for the rear to be FELT like you are describing .........Mike :thumbup:

UPDATE. Had my RT at the Dealer to work on my front end shimmy. The tech. adjusted the drive belt. He does not feel the shimmy and on my 20 mile ride home I did not feel it either. Going on a ride to the mountains this weekend so will know by Monday if the adjustment did the job. Thank you everyone for the input.

If you have some miles on the front, the fronts may be cupped? I had the same shake at 27,000 mi on the fronts and new fronts cleared it up. Good luck...
