There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Transmission Stuck in 3rd Gear

I own a 2011 RT Ltd with 17,000 miles. Yesterday, while riding home, I stopped and the gear indicator displayed 3rd Gear.

The bike will not change from 3rd gear. It won't shift automatically or manually. I tried putting it in reverse. Nope. Wont change from 3rd.

I parked it overnight. Removed the key and walked away. This morning it is still stuck in 3rd gear.

SO...Is this a MAJOR repair or just some magic valve that needs adjusting?

Either way, I am taking it to the shop Saturday morning.

P.S.

I still have my 2010 RT to enjoy the ryding world.

The shift lever fell off. Located on the left side. Just in front of the left foot peg. You will likely see it hanging below the bottom side panel. 5 minutes to reinstall and tighten up.

Did I mention my bike is a 2011 RT Ltd?

It does not have a foot shift lever.

There are no codes or orange screen.

Thanks,

JOHN

Curious. ....

When you say you tried manually, did you put a wrench to the shift arm and manually try to shift the trans..?? I have done this for others with the se models that hang up in gear. Usually when the arm gets loose the shifting gets strange before due to the added play but not to say that the arm did not come off as mentioned by billybovine. It would be visable and a good place to start. Most shift shafts are knoched where the pinch bolt slides through to keep the arm from falling off if loose so you may have lost that bolt altogether....have a look..👀

I never said foot shift lever. I figured out you had a SE5. It still has a shift lever.
This is what it's suppose to look like.
Shift lever.jpg

The shift lever has fallen off the shift shaft.

If shift lever became loose or of. Remove and use a wire brush to remove debris from grooves on shat, before reinstall. Just a heads up.

Had similar issue on '10 RT

I was told look for cable hanging down. If so easy fix. Nope now issue. It was the "spline". Mine was still covered by warranty..
