• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Am I alone?

Does anyone else find it easier to upshift using your index finger rather than your thumb on their RT? I have wide hands and my thumb has to rest on top of the grip so I just use my index finger to "pull" the shifter forward instead of pushing it with my thumb. Just wondered if anyone else has the same large hand problem as me.

I've actually tried shifting like that...
(Okay: I get bored easily! :D)
It's just a bit easier for me use my thumb for up shifting!

(and for hitch-hiking! :roflblack:)

POINT AND SHIFT

REALLY :gaah:............ Whatever works, however if you get into an accident forget DO NOT SAY you ever did it this way ........ It would be like telling the cop ....well I was shifting with my left foot rather than my right :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: ...................Mike

You're ALL Alone in the cosmos. I'm sure lots have tried it for the novelty.
So you're a free thinker. There is some kind of reward for that.

I have always used my left thumb for up shifting and my left index finger (although it is short due to an industrial accident - not a comment about short fingers-) for downshifting. Works just fine for me.

^^ ditto for me, but my right thumb tends to spend more time on top if the grip than wrapped around it!! A prosthetic joint in the base of the thumb/wrist joint makes it a little bit of an uncomfortable stretch to wrap it around the throttle, but i have no issues at all controlling it cos i have a 'wrist-rest' paddle fitted on the RH end of the grip - I just hafta keep the thumb away from the kill switch!! It's easy to flick it by accident with my thumb resting up there all the time, & that can be embarrassing!! :opps:

The new Honda Africa Twin adventure bike with the DCT transmission works like that. Finger up thumb down. I'm not sure I'd like it that way but the Honda engineers thought it was better.

I usually use my thumb when I'm ryding. But sometimes I am fiddling with something with my left hand and will quickly poke the paddle with my free index finger.
