• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I picked the wife up today after work and we were heading home when some "gentleman" blew thru a yield sign and almost T-boned us, thankfully the brakes were rock solid and we stopped in plenty of time as he slid thru with his brakes locked up.

Missed us by about 15 feet thankfully and we continued on as he gave us a dirty look and took off

Wow! Glad y'all weren't involved in a nasty accident...things could have been much worse!
Ive had to go home and change my drawers a few times this riding season, people aren't paying close attention to the road like they used to.

Wife and I were in the red river gorge last weekend and some lady ran a stop sign. I got stopped but then got very pissed off. I don't get it a spyder is not small.... They all need pulled out of there cars and punch in there throats!! Glad you were ok glad these spyder can stop on a dime!

I'm so glad you are both ok!!! That was just a little close.....and he gave You a dirty look. I wish we could use paint ball guns to tag these crazy drivers. Don't know what good it would except make me feel better. :opps:

Scary!

I'm glad you are safe. I hate to hear of injured (or worse) riders.

When I was first learning to drive, my Dad said "If you just drive your car, you're gonna get in an accident. You have to drive his car, and his car, and her car," meaning learn to anticipate the stupid move someone is going to make right in front of you.

That was 40 years ago, and I've passed it along to each of my kids as they learned to drive. So far, none of us has ever been in an accident.

Sounds like a lot of folks in here got the same advice!

The Spyders have really good brakes. In the trike course at Wing Ding last week we practiced panic stops. For one stop I made I may have gotten up to 30 mph when I hit the brakes really hard. The floorboard went down, and the next thing I knew I was stopped and I almost made a bib out of the windshield! I was thrown forward hard enough my chest was up against the windshield. :gaah:I didn't hit the brakes so hard after that!

I spent so many years on two wheels in "hostile" environments, like SOCAL, that I view every vehicle in sight with suspicion that they are out to kill me. Doesn't matter what I'm driving. and it doesn't hurt to have an exit strategy when necessary.

how rude and inconsiderate of you to be in his way, didn't you know who he was :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

really, glad you guys were ok, good YOU were paying attention

 As a Driving & Riding Instructor in a variety of capacities over many years, we were alwaystold to make a big deal of making sure our students learnt that (& I'll paraphrase a bit):

"As a vehicle driver/rider, you can only drive YOUR car; if you try to 'drive' any of the other cars on the road with you, you ARE going to have an accident!!

The
ONLY car that you have any control over is the one you are in, so you've got to ALWAYS ASSUME that every other car or vehicle out there is going to do the very thing you least want them to do & they ARE all out to get you!! So drive YOUR CAR as if everyone else is stupid - they quite probably are!"

So it's just a bit funny that we were using the other side of the same argument to drive home effectively the same message - they are out to get you, & you've gotta watch out for every other idiot on the road, cos at least some of them ain't gonna be watching out for you!!

Glad ad you & your wife made it home safely Kwalsh! That's always a good thing, isn't it! :)

Too many drivers reading messages, texting and even playing games such as pockemon while driving. It is a risky proposition. We do need God on our side to get back home safely.

WOW !!! last weekend as a matter of factly , riding the 2 wheels , in my local neighborhooding area , coming up too a stop sign , { now mind ya , this is a 2 lane access sort of frontage lane , that is or was meant for the farmers back in the day , this is a tee connected lane , 3 stop signs, top speed , 20 too 30 maybe 40 if you are clear and need too get home } now I was coasting up too the sign , looking too the right as there is a house too the right that we know the folks , who have chickens and dogs , stuff running around . 100 feet from stop sign , car load of kids Z O O M ED by in left lane 45 or 50 m.p.h. through the stop sign , and over the hill ... no brake lights at all , a kid in back seat gave me a glance , too see what they almost hit I guess , saw the license plates , out of state { we are close too the border state } knew where they we going , took my time thinking what I might do , and calm down a bit ... { I was a ding-a-ling kid too some how made it this far } so I just went too the lake these kids were going to , and sure enough , the driver was just getting ready too head too the lake with another guy , pulled up to them and , asked if that was his car , { he replied yes } and I gave a hearty " man I am glad you made it , you almost ran me over as you blew through the stop sign and never looked " hahahaha been a while since I seen silver dollar size eye balls in a kid :D ... I guess what I am saying them youths are getting driver license also , and do not know , or care at the time , so as 2 wheels or 3 we gotta drive for them .... :yikes: dang it !

If you always ride (or drive!) as if the "other guy" is:
Drunk
Blind
Hungover
Just got fired from their job
Their Spouse is leaving them for someone who looks like you

You might just make it home, without becoming a hood ornament!
