• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

spyderCodes for the PC & Mac

spyderCodes

This is an experiment.

There is a rudimentary spyderCodes now available for Windows and Macs.
I really don't see this as being very useful but here it is anyway.
Right now the app searches for the error codes and returns the error code info.
That's all.

YOU MUST HAVE JAVA INSTALLED for it to work.

If you spend much time on the internet you probably have it on your computer.
Check the Apps and look for JAVA
You can get the JAVA runtime here

This is my first JAVA Rodeo so I'm not claiming to be an expert.
The installation has not been thoroughly tested so I am not certain what problems might crop up.

I have a dropbox account and you can get the spyderCodes.jar file here.
Download the file.
There is a delay for the Download button to appear.

You may have to alter your security settings because I am not a recognized developer for this kind of file.
On a PC you need only click on the file to run it.

For the Mac it is a little involved to run as you need to access it from a terminal program.
You may have to alter your security settings.

On the Mac you need to run a terminal program.

Here's how:
1. Navigate to the folder spyderCodes.jar is located.
2. Type ~spyderCodes.jar

Now please be aware that there may be a few bumps getting this to run.
I will help out any way I can.

I've got the SpyderCodes.jar file downloaded. Now I'm at the Oracle website to get Java JDK development kit. There are lots and lots of files here. Should I get all of JDK 8u101 and JDK 8u102 ???

Thanks....

For always watching out for us and reaching out to all ryders on the road or at home....:firstplace:

On a PC you need only click on the file to run it.

Most likely you will have to tell it what to use the first time and will get a pop-up asking to use either a web service or a program. If you choose the latter, you will get a browse button where you will need to find the javaw.exe. Most of the time it is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_101\bin. This assumes you go and get the version Roger has listed in his link...

Oh and thanks man! This is nice not to have to go and find the phone with the much smaller screen!
