There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Parking

Depends....

If alone... pull in with tail visible middle of a car slot. If motorcycle parking is available I park there regardless of size and if on the street parallel in the middle. When with a friend...pull all the way in and buddy backs in one car slot. Motorcycle if available and parallel back in at an angle both of us...

Here in Arizona, they go by vehicle value. I don't know what source they use for their values. I just renewed the tag on my 2015 RT and paid $460.51 for the year. My 2016 Toyota was $566.75 for a year. It doesn't seem to matter how many wheels you have on your vehicle, it's all about the value. Brutal!

 There's obviously a difference in how your State grabs it's funding...
My Spyder costs $36 bucks per year: with a custom plate!

I have often wondered the same thing. I normally ride with 2 other spyders, and we will try to split and use 2 spaces, unless there are a lot and we can each have our own. When alone, I park in the middle of the spot, but towards the end so that an unexpected person will not pull up and think it is empty.
Interested to see what others do.

:agree: .. and I park where it makes most sense ( car or m/cycle spot ), is easier for me, and provides the best visibility to other "parkers"

Ok, with all the talking about "sharing a parking spot", has anyone heard of anybody being ticketed because only 1 vehicle has paid and the parking fees are assumed to be "per vehicle"?

At the metro station, I park my bike in a motorcycle parking. Parking for the motorcycles are free, and I do have motorcycle plates. In shopping centers, I park in a regular parking.

I currently have HC issues. Have a hang tag that I put over my windshield. Limited to 50 feet of walking--so no space within that perimeter, no shopping. A mobility cart is also required for the big stuff. Most of the time, I am able to find the necessary parking and a cart.

Spyder does not go into Anchorage and shop the mall parking lots. The parking lots I encounter mostly have easy access parking.

If there is plenty of motorcycle parking, I'll park there. I have handlebars, wear a helmet and straddle a seat. I like the motorcycle parking area because it keeps the bike away from the cars.

If I pull into a regular parking spot, I will ALWAYS pull in head first. This is to prevent two things that would be prevalent if you backed into a space. First, it helps prevent door dings from car doors opening and slamming into my front wheel fenders since the wheels are closer to the curb if I pull in head first. Second, it keeps cars from swinging wide as they park and running into one of my front wheels as they are pulling into the space next to me. They aren't expecting to have that extra wheel sticking out there, down low to the ground and if their first glance tells their brain that it is a two wheeled motorcycle, they might not realize that they could hit me.

And one other thing. If I pull into a regular space, I pull straight in and as close to the middle as I can get. Again, people who part next to bikes tend to squeeze a bit out of their spot and often actually park over the white line into your spot. When they go to leave, you are right back into the situation where they can't see all of your three wheeled machine and crank their steering wheel while being too close to you.

I'm all for being courteous and do try to be whenever possible but as long as my machine and insurance costs me just as much as most of the cars I'm parking around, my first concern will be protecting my machine. If there is room for "doing the courteous thing" after that, then by all means.

Agreed that we have paid for the right to park in any spot we want, but when there are very few (car) parking spots available, but quite a few motorcycle spots, the considerate thing is to take the motorcycle spot.

No motorcycle only spots in my neck of the woods. I use a regular spot and park towards the end of the space so a car doesn't go whipping in there thinking it is empty.

Our Handicapped Parking permits are cut from a piece of plastic, and are pretty tough...
I punched a hole in it, and ran a key-ring through it.
Now when I park in a Handicapped spot: I hand it from my Lidlox.

It hasn't been stolen yet! :D

There aren't many places here with motorcycle only spots either. I go to the Phoenix VA a couple times a month and parking there is very scarce. Fortunately, there are a passel of motorcycle only spots. They even striped them wide enough for trikes :)

Expensive registration

You pay a registration fee each year just like the 4 wheeled, 2 wheeled, 6 wheeled, 10 wheeled vehicles, etc. Park in any space you want.

I totally agree ... I just purchased my Spyder and paid $340 for the registration fee. :banghead:

Here's an Indiana fee list? How's yours so high? $26 for a cycle, that's cheap.

Could he have been including Sales Tax? :dontknow:
I pay $36 bucks here in New York, and that includes the charge for a vanity plate.

i always make sure I park in the motorcycle only parking if possible. there are a few places around here that say "Harley Motorcycle Parking." I always make sure I pull right in front of the sign :joke:

The $340 is the total cost to get my plates and includes other taxes and fees.

[h=2]PLATE AND REGISTRATION FEES[/h]Whether registering your vehicle for the first time or renewing your registration, you will pay an excise tax fee and a registration fee. Customers living in certain counties and municipalities will also pay a surtax or wheel tax. Vehicle registrations must be renewed every year.

I park in motorcycle slots, along with the other trikes and motorcycles. When parking at a curb, I back in on an angle just like I did on my motorcycle. This leaves room in the parking space for another motorcycle or trike. Just common courtesy.

Pam
Yup! It is classified as a motorcycle and I park it like one in MC parking spots.
