Shhhh - don't say anything to the other RT ryders, but I really liked the F-3, and I would trade in my RT for one in a heartbeat!

Your good to go...

I won't tell..:roflblack: glad you got the chance. We had a safety / demo day today at Vey's Motosports with many happy F3 ryders....

Myron, I see by your tag line that you just got your RT in May of this year. What is it about the F3 that would make you switch so soon? Is it the riding position, engine, etc.? The reason I say this is that I recently got a second trike in a demonstrator F3-S but I don't think for a minute that I would sell my Harley Tri Glide which is like a Barco Lounger compared to the F3. I have never ridden an RT but would think that the two bikes would have similar characteristics to what I currently own? BTW, I realize how ridiculous it is to own two trikes but I am having fun:thumbup:

Conventional Vs. Spyder

I've demoed a couple of Goldwing trike conversions as well as the new Harley Free Wheeler. The Wings were very nice until you got into town then it was an upper body work-out making turns. The Free Wheeler turns more easily maybe because it's stripped down and lighter but the rigid rear axle made it ride rough on bumpy uneven pavement. I have also demoed four different Can AM Spyders, an 08 GS which was fun but more of a crotch rocket riding position which didn't appeal to me. I also demo rode a couple of the RTs, the first being a 990 SE5 and the second being a 1330 SE6. Both were very comfy except for legroom and the 1330 was definitely a big improvement over the 990. Handling was much nicer than the conventional trikes, especially turning effort being so much easier. Lastly I demoed an F3S SM6 last year and the comfort, especially the legroom was much better than on the Rt models. The lower seating position helps immensely with the cornering and the handling or body roll/understeer was less than on the RTs. The only thing lacking was storage but now the new F3T and F3 Limited have some. When the time comes for me to go with 3 wheels it will definitely be a Spyder F3T or F3 Limited.

The F3-T is a great bike but I still like our 2014 RT and love riding each one.
The wife like's the RTS better than the F3-T. What sold me the most on the
F3 is the u-fit system and it really looks great.

Here's why I liked it so much

First, the riding position, although feeling strange at first, turned out to be more comfortable than the more upright position of the RT. Second, the 1330 engine has more lower-end torque and was faster but not unmanageable.
Third, the styling of the bike is sportier. Now, I am actually a slowpoke, but on the F-3 I felt like I was moving faster than I was.
It's not realistic for me to actually trade in my RT after such a short time, but since I bought with the intention of ryding with my wife who turned out to be very reluctant, if I could go back in time I think I would have chosen the F-3 instead of the RT.

Stumpy,
I can see a possible situation where your wife begins to enjoy riding more and you end up with and F3 and she gets the RT. In the Harley world, there is a husband and wife team where she got the Harley Tri Glide and he ended up with the sportier Freewheeler. They seem to be having a ball riding the two trikes together. He prefers the sportier Freewheeler and she rides the Tri Glide.

I understand your dilemma because although I like my Tri Glide, I did not find it sporty enough for my desire to have more spirited rides with a machine that was designed for the task. So, a month ago, I acquired a 2015 factory demonstrator F3-S SM6 with 6k miles (new tires and full service for 9.3k miles) with remaining warranty at a very significant discount to new. After putting on a RonBar with billet heim joints and a BRP backrest, I am having a ball with this wonderfully contrasting machine. If your wife decides that she would like to be a driver which many have chosen and you can swing the F3, you all would have the best of both genre in the trike world. Much good luck and as someone said, we can't take it (money) with us and your kids can make their own.
