Mandatory Addition to Spyder Enjoyment

You "gotta" be on SpyderLovers!

I noticed that I'm at my one year anniversary of being here, and I just wanted to thank all of the big-time contributors (except one LOL.) (That really is a joke, but it probably made one or two think it was them.)

I've learned so much about technique and upgrades that I REALLY do not think I would enjoy my RT as much as I do now. So, thanks again!

Plus, with how these forums can be, status sometimes is given by the number of posts. This makes 100 for me. Had to get into triple digits.... :yes:

Glad to see/hear that you appreciate the Forum & your Spyder, altho I'm a little sorry that you couldn't see fit to thank me.... pps:

But that really doesn't matter, I can live with it cos I'm sure that when Lamont started this Forum thing it was more about sharing knowledge about our Spyders, enjoying them, & becoming a part of the broader Spyder community - it really isn't of great consequence to most of us who exactly has done the specifics of contributing what (altho that can have a bearing on the credence we give it!!) just so long as the knowledge gets out there so that others can take it on board or not (as their whim may take them), & the Forum & Spyder community as a whole benefits! So I'm really glad that you enjoy the Forum & feel that you benefit from it, just like I'm grateful to Lamont for providing us with this fantastic Forum & does all the work to encourage the sponsors, contributors, & the Spyder community; & I'm also very grateful for every other contribution & contributor too!! It takes a whole bunch of people & a variety of ideas & different approaches to make a Forum like this work - it'd be a pretty boring place if no-one ever disagreed or had a different thought, wouldn't it!!

So thank You for being a part of what makes this such a great place, even if you don't always like my posts! :joke::yes:

Good place to learn

I've learned many important things about Spydering on here ... The most important is just Ryde it and enjoy it . Having a decent mechanical background and knowledge of things with engines in them I tend to analyze the ( bike , snowmobiles, boat ) I'm driving and worry about breakdowns etc . Reading the posts from real life experiences and very avid Ryder's really helps . Good place to get a good laugh too .... And that sure helps in today's world :congrats:

I would also like to give a shout out to the Spyder Lovers forums and the awesome and very helpful folks here.
I have learned so much. It is nice to be able to search subject matter and read all the great posts and replies!!

I to have learned a lot about spyders( RT's and other models) events,( Spyderfest, Spyderquest, ) rides(awesome places to ride in U.S.A. ,etc. and meeting some of the nicest people at the events. I am glad that I found this site. Deanna

Yes, this is one of the great benefits of a brand specific forum such as this. I too have learned a lot here, and would have had a much harder time navigating through my DIY projects without it.

Congratulations on hitting 100! However, I must say that I would prefer the post count be disabled on this forum, as that would discourage certain people from plastering the forum with useless posts only for that purpose.

I think the post count is important, it shows who is a regular contributor, not that every post is a contribution, but at least a reaction of sorts, and when you see someone with numerous problems and very few posts you may attribute that to them maybe being new to the Spyder and try to help them accordingly.

If you see someone with a fair amount of posts you can assume that they have been active and should have some idea about what they are recommending or saying.

Just my .02 cents worth.

One thing I learned is to NOT ask about tire recommendations! The "old folks" get all bent out of shape!

I'm a big contributor on another forum and post counts do matter. They give readers (we call them 'lurkers') an idea of who is posting. One thing that is done better elsewhere is that a post can be rated, not just liked or thanked.

High post count can be deceiving. The most knowledgeable and helpful contributors on this forum have much lower post counts than the one with a high post count who regularly posts jokes, cartoons, memes, music video clips, and technical advice copied from other peoples posts.

Some of the best forums I have been on have not had post counts. It doesn't take long to know who the top contributors are, based on the quality of their posts rather than quantity.

But obviously everyone here seems to like post counts, so it's doubtful that will ever change.

I have always said that the folks with nothing to say, often say it the loudest.
