There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

There is no speed governer, its more of an rpm governer. You can go as fast as you can untill you hit redline in 5 gear then thats all she wrote.

Good point...figure 5500rpm at 75mph...so, 10k, or redline, is likely about 140mph, but you'll never see me going that fast...ek gad!

The only reason I can see that you would want to mess with the Speed Governor ( or any of the other electronic systems ) is that you were doing course/drag racing with the Spyder. By the time you got the Spyder configured for that, it would not be legal on the streets and you would have replaced or removed all the electronics and most of the wiring, body plastics and some metal, tires & wheels, replaced the transmission, suspension, steering, drive system, reconfigured the braking system, exhaust, and most likely - the engine as well. Not a weekend mod.
Here in New Mexico, we have a lot of stretches of empty straight road that go to the horizon. Just to see, I have been up to 120 mph - or so. While straight, the roads are just not good enough for high speed testing - so I was busy riding (hanging on for dear life) and really could not watch the speedometer and what the RPMs were doing. My impression was that there was more speed available and I was not near the red-line. After the "sprint", I pulled over, parked and thought; "Boy! Was that stupid!"pps:
So, don't worry about the Spyder's electronic systems getting in your way of going fast. As I discovered, commonsense should kick in long before the Speed Governor does. I hope yours is better than mine.

Yup --- no such thing as a speed govenor on the Spyder. The Spyder is just like every other motorcycle on the road in the respect that it has an RPM limiter - which 'only' keeps your engine from exploding.
Been up to 128mph and had more to go. A lighter person could hit 135-140.
I really wish these rumors of the 110mph limit would come to a stop - bad salespeople for continuing to spread them.

Tom - any wobbles at speed? Pulling? One would think that that's the parameter that would highlight any engineering flaws...
I've hit 125 and it change the control at all unless you were passing a semi or some other large vehicle that might cause some turbulance affect. On a strait away with no other vehicles around it was as smothe at 125 as it is at 75

I didn't feel that the Spyder itself had any wobbles or control issues - the road surface ( in this case ) was two lane black top with a paved shoulder. But, it was not flat or in perfect shape. The center line was also the "back" of the hump that runs down the middle of the road to the pavements edge - so rain/water will clear off the road fast. You will find out that the Spyder is sensitive to uneven lanes on roads and will deliver a sensation to you that you would not feel on a two wheel motorcycle.
So, until I got into just one lane, the Spyder did some fancy foot work that felt very foreign to me, but then leveled out. Except for the speed, I felt the bike was under control. I didn't have any problem keeping it in the lane.
By the way, have fun tomorrow picking up your new Spyder - AND - save the speeding, if you really have to, for after your first oil change. The weather looks great for your 1st Ride.

Indeed - I may pick it up this afternoon, if I can get out of the office!!!! Then I'll ride it home in the 60 - 70 degree weather at 0700, rather than the 90-100 degree weather of noonish... opted for a set of the black rims as part of the deal for $250 - thought that was a decent farkle buy.
Should be able to keep the trip to 55 to 70 over the trip - there are no stops, and should be very light traffic in the morning..

This is not a rumor, in the sales brochure I read from BRP I am sure it states that the machine is "speed limited to 180km/h". Now I'm not saying it is. I have never tried to go that fast.
I did ask the top speed question on this forum and there seems to be plenty of riders doing a lot more than 180km/h.
This limit may only apply to the Australian model.
Has anyone in Oz done more than 180km/h :yikes:

was with a bunch of other bikes the spyder handled well even at 120. It felt like the front spoiler is giving some major down force.

It would be completely horrible if there was lift under the front spoiler...being the engine is not in the front, you could conceivably flip the bike if enough air got under you...
At higher speeds, this is actually possible...yikes!
I guess we're better off filling the trunk...also, more passengers or luggage raise the center of gravity of the bike, making you more likely to have problems at higher speeds...
