• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tough one...

:agree: seats are personal and not having anywhere to go and try the different one out it is hard to say. I agree you should try the ones that custom make the seats to your needs. You may find a shop in your area that can build you one that you can test along the way and add or remove material as the build progresses.

IMHO the only choice is Russell. I'm on my fifth one and and will buy another soon I hope. If you go to rally's where folks ride long distance you will probably find more Russell seats than any other. If you just want a seat that looks good then there are more options.

ahhh the wait

i am leaning towards Day Long but i don't like the fact that i have to wait so long for turn around time ?

I know what you mean about the wait...I'm on it with Russell. My experience with a lot of seats is that RDL is the best for me. Not saying anything bad about other seat fabricators.

If you see a diner with no cars out front, do you go in to eat, or do you eat at the diner with all the local cars in front? Usually, the wait is for a reason and is worth it.

:welcome:

A seat is a very personal decision. You'll get as many opinions from SpyderLovers as there are seats to choose from. But you've certainly come to the right place to get opinions! :p Good luck.

I'm 6 3 and almost 340 pounds. I also ride with my wife quite frequently and we went with a tall boy ultimate seat back in April at spyderfest. Fantastic decision, and I promise it's not something you'll regret, the only catch with the ultimate seat is it robs a little passenger room so you'll want to make sure they're comfortable but it's still worth it

When Russell built my seat they moved me up and back and also reshaped the passenger back rest to move my bride up and back also. Works great.

The wait is in the shipping. When I ordered my seat, they gave me a date to have my seat there for modification. Shipping was on me. It took only a day or two at the most for them to build the seat. They will then ship it back anyway you are willing to pay for. In my case, I opted for regular shipping both ways since I had it built during the winter when I wasn't riding. Great seat as others have said. I had one on my GS and now on my RT and if I get another Spyder it will be my first mod. BTW, I'm 6'6".
