• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Damn brakes

Everyone seems to observe that Spyder brakes tend to squeal, and I've come to believe that CanAm designed it that way. I just replaced the original brake pads all around with EBC's HH fully sintered pads on my '14 RT with 18000 miles, and wouldn't you know that on the first full day of riding I'm hearing brake squeal. Not as much as before, but why on earth would the brakes squeal with brand new pads? And yeah, the tech said the rotors are fine. See, it's by design :mad:

Spray some brake cleaner on them, find an empty parking lot and make three or four quick stops from about 25 MPH and that should help.

Apply Disc Brake Quiet on the backside of the pads? That will stop the squealing.

In the past; I've put a bevel on the leading edges of the pads. It works like a charm! :thumbup:
:agree::agree::agree:...with Bob :gaah:..................also DO NOT DO what Cruz Joe suggests until after you have bedded in the new PADS properly.......Mike :thumbup:

Here's what I would do...

If you get the EBC pads (BajaRon) they come with detailed insturctions as to how to break them in. If you follow those instructions you will have no problem. Though mine (RS 2012) never squealed for 33,000 miles and still had 30% left when I changed them the new EBC's are much better and don't make any noise. Seems to be more an RT thing...:dontknow:

Our shop uses BG Products Stop Squeal on new pad installation. We also lube the caliper slides and brake hardware with caliper grease. Police Officers are the first to complain about brake squeal on their patrol cars and we haven't had a single complaint since following this procedure.

On another note;
I replaced my brake pads today with EBC pads purchased from BajaRon. No problem with that.
But for future reference, be very careful when removing the wee spring clips from the old pads. If you break one, good luck finding a replacement. They are not sold as a separate $1.50 item but come with the stock pads for $120.00.
I went ahead and bought the stock pads, removed 2 of the clips and installed the EBC pads. So, I now have a brand new set of stock pads for the front, minus 2 clips. I would be happy to sell them to someone of y'all at a reasonable price. Make an offer if interested.

Ron, it might be helpful to some other goof if you were to include this caution in your instruction sheet.

Just replaced the pads all around wifes 15RT at 32,000

Put the EBC HH sintered pads on from BajaRon and cleaned the rotors with brake cleaner and a little anti-squeal as Pam noted on the backing plates. All good, no squeals and should be ready for the next 30,000 miles. (note- when I looked at the front Pads at 31,000 miles, I thought they were good, but after 1,000 miles, one of the pads on the front was wore to the plate ahead of the others. Sometimes a quick look doesn't catch the uneven wear that can occur)
