Front tyre wear

I know this has been posted and discussed many times however I'm after advice or suggestions. I have a 2010 RTS SE5 and I'm in the process of replacing the tyres and I noticed the right tyre has worn on the inside. I'm planning on having a laser alignment done prior to fitting the tyres.
I have been running the tyres at 20 PSI and I have done 10,000 miles.

Any ideas as to why the uneven wear only on the right tyre?

You already guessed the problem. Its out of alignment.

With the age of the bike you should also check the upper control arm bushings for any play.

Had the same problem with my 2011 RT. I took it to the dealer for alignment, who said it was fine and this wear is normal. The rotated the tires. Now I wait to see if he is right.

Then I'd suggest a different dealer or have a talk with the general manager, because that's wrong. Not to mention, the front tires are directional and can't rotated from one side to the other without dismounting them.

Here's the thing....

For one....do the laser alignment after you change the tires and check the joints. As fort the rotation of the tires, this has not been a wise thing to do. You do have to remove the tires remount and rebalance and re align them and the results were minimal at best....:dontknow:

Youre dealer knows very little about Spyder suspension and tires. Odd tire wear like this IS NOT normal.

Further to my first question, thinking of changing the profile slightly on the front tyres. Currently 165/65 R14, looking at changing to 165/60R14.
Asking pros and cons?
My feeling is a slightly lower profile would have less flex when cornering hard.
However need to consider if this would affect the nanny.
Anyone have experience with lower profile Tyres?

Thanks Blueknight, I believed that would be the case. Had another Spyder member that suggested that there could be issues with the Nanny. There are more choices of tyres in the 60 profile here in Oz.

If you're thinking about going to a 60 series aspect ratio, why not go to 176/60-14, many more tire choices in this size.

Ok Koop, I'm assuming you meant 175/60 R14. My only concern is width re mudguard clearance. I have LED driving lights mounted on the top support arm and there is very little clearance with the original tyres as is. I know I could possibly put some spacers in the mount.
If anyone has done this and achieved enough clearance I'd like to know. Don't want to be in the position where I fit 175's and my lights rub on the inside even with spacers. Opinions needed????
