Hi everybody Pop here. Does anyone know where the thread is for correct procedure in programming a new factory key using red master key. Bike is 2011RSS spyder. I found the article on this forum but didn't tag it.Shame on me. Hopefully someone can help.

For a 2011: you should be able to take a shipped replacement key, get it cut to fit, and then just have your locksmith clone it from your good key... :thumbup:

You cannot clone a BRP key. You add them to the security table with the master key.

Let's see....

pre 14's you can get the aprilla key blank and have a good locksmith clone your working key. if you don't have a working key you have a problem. The aprilla blanks are 5-7 bucks and cutting and cloning about 35 bucks....much cheaper than the oem blank alone....:thumbup:

Yes, Keys are added or deleted using BUDS for 2014 and later models.

Remember keys for 2013 and prior are different from keys 2014 plus. They will not work or program cross reference. Be specific when ordering!

And I have cloned Aprilia blanks. I was responding to a comment that I may have misunderstood. It said shipped replacement key and taking that in conjunction with the OP talking about factory keys I assumed that the comment was referring to a BRP key. A BRP key has to be added using the Master Key, or BUDS for later years, it can't be made into a clone of an original key

Two videos to help explain everything...

One is 2010-2013 RT how to add keys to the ECM.

Next video is all about keys, the technology, etc... The keys you can easily clone are 2008-2013. When I say easily, it means a lot of lock smiths or hardware stores have the key cloning equipment to do it.
After that BRP went to a rolling code system. If you want to dive deep into the depths of this you can google it like I did to learn all about it.

Oh and let me add... BRP rolling code system is old (like 2012 key technology) compared to recent cars. Some of the new key cloning systems CAN IN FACT clone a 2014+ Spyder key. But most lock smiths and stores won't have this latest equipment. You can buy latest key cloners on Ebay and many other places.

Believe it or not, you can now buy a key cloner for under $100 that uses a PC (the software is not in the key cloner but controlled by the PC) to clone even some of the newest keys for cars!

AND YES... I know someone that has cloned a 2015 Spyder key!
