2012 Rear Wheel Install

Morning, Replaced rear wheel bearings and new rear tire-General Altimax RT43 215-60- R15. Spyder is 2012 RSS-SE5. What is the torque for the lower shock mount bolt? I disconnected the ABS sensor. If this may create a problem, how do I adjust the sensor when reinstalling? Hope to get it back together today. Thank you. John

#1.....I don't think the NANNY will allow you to operate the Spyder without the sensor connected..................... #2. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ADJUST SENSOR !!!!!!:yikes:, there is no reason I can think of to try and do this !!!!!!!...........Mike :thumbup:

Don't know the torque spec's my torque wrench is in my hand....:roflblack: tight..shop manuals are inexpensive on line and are great to have if you are doing your own work. As to the sensor...if you have a tell tale mark where it was put it back. It reads off the starred disc behind the brake disc but again I do not know the gap spec's on that. Try it and see if the nanny kicks out any codes and adjust. May still need to go to the dealer if you don't find the right point...:gaah:

The shims behind the sensor go right back in. Most have one or two. It can only be installed one way, so as long as you put it back, you are fine. Joe

Rear top and bottom shock mount bolt are both 48 N*m (35 lbf*ft)

I'm guessing by ABS sensor you mean the wheel speed sensors shown in the picture below:

If so then as cptjam said it's normally just a case of putting the shims back in. However to make sure you should find a feeler gauge in your tool kit that just has two gauges in it. These are the minimum and maximum distances the sensors should be from the sensor wheel so you can use these to check they are in tolerance. Of course I only found these after I'd gone and got a feeler gauge from the shop to check them. For ref. in case you haven't got the feeler gauge in the tool kit the gap should be between 1.3mm and 1.9mm (0.051 to 0.075 inch)

Just for future reference for those reading along, It is not necessary to remove the bolt holding those sensors in order to remove the rear wheel. Just remove the two bolts holding the brake caliper bracket to the swing arm and the whole assembly will tilt off to one side. Then you can remove the nut on the axle and then the wheel. If you are careful not to disturb any of the brake pad components, the whole assembly will go right back on without any adjustments needed and no changes to the parking brake.

The rear wheel is on- the wheel sensor is reconnected. Rode about 5 hours-all is well-no codes. I feel a small buzz/vibe at 59-60mph- then gone. Not sure if its belt slap or wheel/tire. Did not have new tire balanced and still have old weights on the wheel. Should I remove them and see if buzz is gone? Considering Ride On. Thanks again to all for your help! John

I have done three rear tire changes ( to car tires ) and didn't balance any of them and have had no issues......I would definitely get the OLD WEIGHTS OFF .....The odds of them working in your favor are about 1,000,000 to 1 ... If you get a buzz / vibe at a certain speed and then it's gone .....that's NOT an out of balance situation......OUT of Balance only gets worse it doesn't go away.......I suspect belt vibe, and yours is very little compared to others.....Mike :thumbup:
