• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Trailer lighting

Good morning from the NY Finger Lakes. I have a 2015 RTL with dealer installed hitch and harness with four wire square plug. I have a trailer that has four wire system,
with incadesant bulbs.
So I thought I was good to go. However after reading about possible problems from adding LED lights to the Spyders, I'm wondering if the trailer lights will over load the
Spyder's electronics. Do I need to change the trailer to LEDs? Your thoughts please.
Thanks,
Sterling

It will be fine. Dealer installed trailer harness is isolated. Running on it's own 10 amp circuit. You can light the trailer up like a Christmas tree. Has no effect on the Spyder lights.

This may not apply to you, but I thought I'd pass it along just in case. I pull an older aftermarket with my '14 RTS. I blew two power modules. Expensive. I followed the advice provided on this forum which was having my dealer ground the power module AND ground the trailer to itself. Problem solved.

Thank you for your reply. I'm not clear on grounding trailer to its self. Could you elaborate or point me to the forum advice you are referring to?
thanks

Here's how the dealer grounded the trailer. He spliced into the ground wire of the trailer and bolted the end on the tongue near the hitch. I relied on the dealer because I know nothing about electricity. Don't remember where this advice was given, but if I find it I'll post it for you. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
