• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ethanol

I have not seen any reference in the owners manual as to the use of Ethanol laced fuel (could have missed it). In Oklahoma it is no problem (Yet) to find the real fuel, so that is what I have always used. The ethanol gasoline will produce less BTU's per given quantity thus reducing performance as well as efficiency (gas mileage). That being a issue is not the most important one however, since some engines were not designed to use any alcohol and the seals and gaskets will deteriorate. Has anyone checked this out?:dontknow:

Only much older engines cannot handle the current low-ethanol (10-15%) blends. Our engine handles it fine.

I'd certainly stay way from any of the rare E-85 (85%) stuff if you ever see it.

Here you go:

Fueling
Fuel Recommendation
Use unleaded gasoline or oxygenated
fuel containing no more than 10%
ethanol or methanol or both. The gasoline used must have the following
minimum octane number:

MINIMUM OCTANE NUMBER
Inside North America 87 ((R+M)/2)
Outside North America 92 RON
NOE

Other fuel can degrade

vehicle performance and damage

critical parts in the fuel system and
engine.

If you use gas with ethanol you are asking for possible problems.

Read this thread: http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11861

If you have no choice but to use it you should use an additive to guard against phase separation. It happened to a friend of mine, had to have his engine rebuilt.
If you know a way to avoid it, without using Av gas, please enlighten us. No such animal as ethanol-free gasoline in these parts.

It has no storage life, I hate it. Don't have a choice here.

Living in Scotty's neck of the woods, :agree:, its very hard to avoid 10% ethanol fuel. My solution to the "no storage life" problem is to ride often. Having to fill up every 4 - 7 days keeps the gas fresh.

Gas

Have any of you used pure gasoline with a fuel additive made by Lucas. I have a few pure gas in my area, just was wondering. Thanks
