• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Neodymium Magnets and Inductive-loop traffic detectors

Do Neodymium magnets work in regards to these detectors? The parking garage where I work use these and it will not sense my spyder and therefore I can get into the garage.

I also noticed my small town has recently installed one at an intersection.

So has anyone placed these magnets on their spyder and had success?

The sensitivity can be adjusted on those devices. At least the traffic signal ones. It's just that municipalities don't want to be bothered.

:agree: That's one thing that we're all pretty good at: complaining. :roflblack: :joke:
Good Luck; please let us know what happens next!

I've got one on mine, and it's hit or miss when waiting for a green light.

I agree with what stillriding said about calling.

I don't know how you drive over them but its best to cross over them from either the right or left side. This interrupts the loop. Crossing over the top or bottom may not work.

You are correct about not wanting to be bothered....parking garage people told me not to ride the bike to work ...

Carry a bucketful of ball bearings in one day, and set it on the sensor...
When it triggers it; kick over the bucket, and ride off.
When they get tired of picking them up; they'll adjust the sensor!

"Not to ride the bike to work": INDEED! :gaah:

HMMM I would pull up and tie up the gate till someone shows up. Bring a folding chair, beverage of choice, food. Do this often enough, they will get the hint. Tell them fix it, or have someone here for you when you arrive. Another idea. Get as many of your friends, bikers, to show up and really tie things up. We did something like this in a small village in N.J.. We were parking as many bikes as we could in a space on the street. Local cops wrote tickets. We showed up in mass and parked one bike per spot. Did not go into any of the shops. Just waited, tied up all the parking. They got the message. and quick! Tom :spyder:

i would sit there everyday and wait for the gate, especially when some big wigs were stuck behind you, will be fixed the next day

With regards to the magnets I don't know if they could affect the sensors.
However, just guessing here, magnets powerful enough to simulate a two ton Chevy might just bring the CANBUS to a screeching halt.

Sounds about right. Fyi I've haven't tested the magnets yet as my area has big mix of all sensors, you cant tell what is tied in or what's back up, high traffic hours, best to call & get all your friends, family to call too:roflblack::roflblack: Not just once but weekly, or more :lecturef_smilie: Drive them nuts.:yes:

For me, it is worth a try......might even be able to ride my bike to work and get into the parking garage without pi$$ing off the administration in the process.

Because I am using it. I have a couple of lights that won't sense my Spyder but will a car.
This magnet now trips the light.
