• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I like motorcycle travel blogs

Hey Willie, thanks for this post. I've book marked your blog and will 'RYDE' along with you. I noticed your reference to TEAM STRANGE. I did their Grand Tour of Georgia in 2012 and 2013 and didn't know it was still active, and starts on April 1. I'll sign up again.

I'm also doing a winter event for the second year, although winter in Georgia is relative. It runs from Jan 1 to late May and is a lot of fun. I had expected to get finisher status last Thursday/Friday, getting bonus pictures in GA/SC/NC/TN. A LIMP HOME ended that temporarily. Got my ride back and hope for the best. The site is: http://bigmoneyrally.com/2016/

There are three Spyders in the rally and the Spyder is better for me than last year's FJR.

I have seen this over the last couple of years. Clicked your link and sort of confused on how this works. I will probably retire sometime next year and this would give me some more options for riding. Can you give me some high level insight into this. Did recognize one name RenoJohn from the FJR world.

Thanks for looking at the blog. I have never monetized it and have no plans to ever do this, so I appreciate anyone who reads !!!

BMR 2016

RenoJohn seems to be the lead person for this rally. He and his helpers really do a great job and spend so much time judging bonus pictures - essentially 24 hours daily. I salute them for all their hard work and hope they don't get burned out.

There are themes each year, and different points for each bonus. I really enjoyed movie themes last year - Gone with the Wind, and Driving Miss Daisy locally. Colleges and Universities last year were also fun. The objective is to take a picture with the bonus, your placard, and the motorcycle in view. The picture is sent from the bonus location to a site where the picture is accepted or rejected. I generally hang around until I get the result, especially if the bonus is in a difficult location.

Post offices with visible city names and zips are used this winter and last winter. We have Paint the Town murals, with the mural generally on the side of a building. Back Roads themes are really nice this year, if you like back roads riding, which I prefer. We also have River Themes, with bonuses alongside various rivers. The closest to me this year are the Savannah and Mississippi - no Tennessee. I'm not aware of any bridges between southern Mississippi and Memphis, but there are two bonuses where a ferry would be great. We also have a daily Word of the Day and a daily Word of the Hour, which started at midnight Reno time Jan 1, 3 am here in Georgia. One hour to get a picture. The word was "COUNTY JAIL" and we got our pictures before a deputy ran us off.

You get the flavor, hope you get to retire soon and ride/ride/ride. The bonuses are in all 50 states, Canada, and we had New Zealand last year, apparently for a Spyder rider in California who got a Spyder in New Zealand.
