BAD KEY

It isn't necessary to overnight the unit. Several 1st. generation :spyder2: riders rode hundreds of miles without power steering and incurred no damage to the :spyder2:. JME

This has not effected the steering just the ability to start the Spyder. I had an issue with the Key when I first got my Spyder but that was three years ago,
anyway it's in the process of being fixed although the next day they will work on it will be Thursday. :cus: jtpollock

Did you try giving your second key some ride time? DESS failures on the first gen models are super rare.

I got the DESS failure when I tired both keys, It does not matter if you try 1 key or the 2nd key. Deanna

I see the DESS offered on e-bay for the RT, wasn't offered for the RS the major cost for my replacement was labor same cost as the part. :dontknow: jtpollock

When I got the DESS module replaced on my 2014 RTS-SE6 I did not have to pay( it was under warranty )

The part # for the RS is : 710004241 and this is for 2015 MODEL YEAR , and for spyder models: RS, ST, RT. Also, check the thread : DESS KEY CODE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!( posted by Deanna777) for the Parts #'s. Deanna

Nice to hear that you are over the DESS issue, and I hope that you do get an other 55,000 miles on your spyder. You are Welcome for the info. on the DESS. You are right it is good to :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: you fell better after wards.
