• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The other day I was riding on a brand new street in town that had "hard wired", Your Speed is -- mph. sign. There wasn't any other traffic on the street, other than myself on my RTS. The radar in the sign failed to register a speed for me and my bike. Has anyone else experienced this?

:agree::yes: Wait until you get to a left turn signal-left turn lane. Happens to me all the time!! The loop wiring under the asphalt won't pick up our spyders or motorcycles in general due to our weight and overall smaller footprint.:ohyea:

Oh yeah....

Not uncommon and in many cases on the ones I know of, I will turn right U turn and catch the light. I will go if there are cars ahead or behind otherwise you have to run the light...:banghead::banghead: The speed ones don't bother me they never match anything anyway. Let's see, you have your analog, digital, your gps and the highway monitors but in the end the cop will have his own reading :banghead: and yet his first question is "do you know how fast you were going"..:roflblack:

Some equipment has difficulty picking up vehicles that are not PRIMARILY ....Metal on the outside..( the body )...Mike :thumbup:

I have not experienced the temporary radar speed watcher, but TN passed a law that motorcycles can go through red lights if they have waited 2 minutes, which seems like forever!:gaah:

Happened to me in Houston, Tx. Stopped at a light late one night and it never changed. I had to creep through it.

When we encounter such signs, it usually picks up my speed. Linda who rides two seconds behind me does not get registered nine out of ten times. :dontknow::dontknow::dontknow::dontknow:

Of course there is another reason: The sign has only a two digit display so when you go through the sensor
at 115 mph it won't display it!!! :D

Actually; I've never hit one of those radar units; without getting lit up and recorded...
But if I didn't register; it wouldn't be due to the speed that I was travelling through it! :D

Jesus people, it was a radar sign, not a loop, it wasn't working, period. With today's radars it will pick you up and if you are speeding you will probably get a ticket. As for intersections, yes half the loops are broke and the other half might not read a bike.

I've been a number of radar signs and yest they read you.

Those signs are all over out west, in California they are at most school zones and road construction areas.

Not too get into a p-----g match, but I could read the speed of the car 2 blocks ahead of me, so in my opinion, the unit was working.

Regarding the loops in the road to detect you for light changes.

For the most part out here in So Cal, most of the loops will detect my Spyder.
But there are a few that won't (old or something). They will detect cars just not my Spyder.

Several 2 wheeler I know installed one of these goodies and they say it works pretty much every time to make the loops detect you.

Traffic light sensors don't operate by sensing the weight of the vehicle. Inductive-loop traffic detectors sense any conductive metal.

I found a good article which explains how they work and how to trigger them if you're on a 2 wheel or less noticeable vehicle.

Ohio, Kentucky and Tenn (and probably some others too) have passed laws recognizing that loop sensors don't register motorcycles and permit left turns on red after waiting reasonable time (sometimes defined as two light changes).

Invisable-----

But we are invisable to cell/text users, shavers, map readers, and all manner of inattentive drivers:yikes:

i heard 2 light changes as well but not sure that is what the actual law is. I have this issue all the time on my sport bike that i have had to go through a few reds. I tried one of the little magnets and it didnt work. On the spyder not so much. I know that the sensor that triggers the gate in my complex i have to ride over it lengthwise (to get more metal over the sensor) to get it to register the spyder because its a really short sensor strip and open the gate. Wont pick-up my bike at all so i have to use the remote and go out through the in gate.
