• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Notable Michigan Motorcycle Events '09

I always love going to the Gilmore care Museum - hopefully the rain will stay away this year. There were a couple Spyders there last year - but nothing organized as they were not riding together. I usually go with some HD buddies of mine. Last year we got caught in k-zoo in one hell of a downpour!
I do love the place, too. We go out often for the Wednesday evening cruise-ins. I was out there today to prep for the bike show, and just sat in the shade and ate lunch under a tree. What could be better? Last year Nancy's Spyder was parked right across from the gas station on the show field. Drew crowds all day. You are right about the rain. Storms nailed us at the museum both Saturday and Sunday. Wind, rain, lightning, green sky, the whole works. Let's hope this year is much better. Hope to see ya there.

Is Saturday open to the non-entrants? What's the difference between Sat and Sun ??
The vintage ride Saturday is about a three hour ride for 1988 and earlier motorcycles only. You don't have to enter the show to ride, but it must be a vintage bike. No Spyders allowed, I'm afraid, not for another 24 years. The Museum will be open 9-6. Sunday is the bike show and swap meet.

Okay - so Sunday is the main 'spectator' day then.

You going on Sunday Firefly? I might see if dltang would be into doing this if the weather is nice. A definite possibilty as she was suggesting all types of short motorcycle trips for this weekend but I'm just too busy.

Bump for the Vintage Motorcycle Ride, Show, and Swap Meet June 13-14 at the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan. If you've been to this event, you know it is a great destination for a ride, with up to 3,000 spectator motorcycle showing up annually, with spectator motorcycle parking adjacent to the show field. The vintage bike show is one of the largest in the area, and has literally hundreds of gorgeous old bikes. The Museum also has a "History of Drag Racing" exhibit this year, that features some splendid cars, as well as some of E.J. "Michigan Madman" Potter's old race bikes. Well worth the $8 spectator admission...or enter a pre-1989 bike if you have one.

Vintage motorcycle ride Saturday June 13 for bikes 1988 and older. Show and swap meet Sunday June 14. Hope to see some of you there. Don't let Nancy have the only Spyder this year.

Bump for the Vintage MC show -

For those that have never been to the Gilmore - you're in for a treat. Tens of millions of dollars of classic cars - including the infamous Tucker!

We are a definite NO for the Gilmore event. Too much other stuff to do and its just too close to the LA trip.

I'm planning on being there on Sunday. :ohyea:

No rain! No rain! No rain!

Anyone else going to the Jackson Wheels of Thunder on Saturday?

Since we are here in Jackson, we are going to try to slip in sometime, but we have a busy weekend with graduations, etc. Change of location from downtown to the fairgrounds should help organizers.

We usually try to attend the Ride for Kids in Ann Arbor on Sunday August 23. Honda sponsored event with proceeds to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Good cause and usually several hundred bikes on the 40 mile police escorted ride.

I'll be around the Gilmore on Sunday - look forward to seeing the Military Rotax in person!

Not sure about Jackson - I know Sturgis is having some bike rally too - not to mention the one in Hell.

Jackson could work too though!

Economy must not be too bad if people are still getting out there and doing these things. I eat out a lot and the places are still busy.

I guess it's all what people make of it - if things were that bad, people wouldn't be eating out, going to bike rallys, or taking vacations (especially @ $3.00 a gallon).

I'm going to try to go to Jackson tomorrow. It's less than an hour away for me. :ohyea:

Definitely Gilmore on Sunday.

James,
Joan (Spyder Ryder810) and I are planning on going to the Gilmore show on Sunday. Hope to catch with you there.

The Spyder is all loaded into the trailer (also our home for tonight) with a couple of the vintage bikes. I rode my modern BMW out to Vicksburg to the Old Car Festival this morning to distribute the last of my bike show flyers. Not a bad ride, despite a little rain. I missed the Spyder on the oily, wet corners. :yikes: Heading out to the Gilmore Car Museum in a few minutes to set up camp and get everything ready for the bike show tomorrow. The weather is supposed to be good Sunday. Sounds like we'll see several of you there. Be sure and stop by to say "Hi." I'll be on the show field judging, and Nancy will be in registration. Hope I can find some time to see your new paint scheme, DD. I'll check back in here Sunday night...if I have the strength left. :D
