• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Found a new type of key holder online. Now there is no need to drill a hole in the key.

problem with them for me is you cant just remove the key like the sheathe that comes with the spyder correct? I had this on my yamaha where you have to put the whole keyring in the ignition that leads to some scratches around the ignition.

Why do we even need a key?

:agree: As long as we have to have a key, I think that the key sheathe, that Can Am came up with, works extremely well.

But what I don't understand is... As electronically sophisticated as the Can Am Spyder is, why do we need a key at all? Why can't we just keep a key fob in our pocket and push a button to start the Spyder? :dontknow:. I believe that feature is available on some of the newer Can Am am off-road vehicles.

agreed, the best feature of my car, which is gadget laden, is not having to dig in your pockets for the keys anymore.

Very nice...

I think it is the best looking one for those who want their key on a ring. Saw this one a while back but think ebay and amazon have recently started offering them...

I must be missing something. How do you account for the chip on the ignition for the spider?

Visit the site fyi the inventor rode sport bikes & hated the scratches, made keyport & has adapted it for many uses.

How do you like the key holder?
Do you get any codes on your spyder?

I will check the eBay website.

Deanna

I really like it. I only put the ignition key and saddle bag keys on a really small ring so nothing gets scratched.

No no codes come up with this key holder. There was a question when I got the bad key error but I explained that I started getting that before I put the key holder's on the key's. No problems since they fixed that issue.

I have this Too

How do you like the key holder?

Deanna

No codes. It's the only key on the ring, which I attach to my slacks with a line, because that way I can't leave the key in the byke and run down the battery. :yikes:

I keep a spare on my main key ring, with car keys and house keys etc. Will not use this much, as I broke my car key when I was not careful. Over $100 for a replacement car key! Yikes!!!!!!

Your mileage may vary........

Keyport and chips

Disclaimer - I work at Keyport HQ. I just want to clarify some information. The Slide does work great for the Spyders, and can support the transponder chip, no problem! If you have a specific question or need to know how the process works, please feel free to contact us through the mykeyport website for further details. The Keyport Slide is designed for this very application and use with bikes, trikes, cars, planes and all types of things that need keys! :)

There is a new Slide 3.0 on Kickstarter for another 24 hours, you can search Keyport on Kickstarter to see the new goodies.

Again, any specific questions about use of the Keyport with a Spyder - I am more than happy to help!

Cheers,
Aimee

Sandee, That is good to know that you did not get any codes, with the ignition key holder. I keep this in mind if I need a ignition key holder. Deanna

There is a US version and over seas version of this holder. The US version is has the patent on the key holder. I been using the US version since last year and work great.
