• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cruise Control Issue

There have been quite a few times, actually 90% of the time I try to set the cruise control it does not take. When it does set if I try to adjust the speed down it shuts off if I increase the speed it works fine.

Any suggestions, other owners experience this?

2013 RT-S SE5

I would have the dealer check it.

It should turn off if you
A - turn the switch off
B - touch your brake
C - change gears
D - activate the nanny

:agree: But have also found it will not engage if RPM too high, anticipating a shift. After I shift it will go right on to normal. (Mine is on the 998, i try to shift last min). Also pull up on brake pedal make sure your not brushing with foot might act quirky on bumpy road.

Cruise Control

If your cruise won't set it may be due to a sticking brake light switch. If the switch is sticking, your brake light stays on and the cruise control won't set. You might have your dealer check the switch.

It also won't set if your revs are too low for the gear you're in.... And if you are just on/above the minimum revs & you try to slow your set speed down any, it'll just turn cruise off!! For my 2013 RT, the min revs in the lower gears are a tad over 4000 rpm. ;)

Exactly what I was thinking, too - what speed are you going, and what gear are you in when you experience this. The cruise control won't work if the RPMs are too low.

Good Advice, I will check the brake pedal next time I go out.

The revs could be an issue. I am used to riding a vulcan 1500 with loud pipes and not used to the whine of the engine so I am normally running with lower revs. Although I do like to hear her scream once in a while.

If 13RT YOU HAVE THE 998 needs higher rev's. Cruise will not engage under 3300 fyi

I tried repeatedly to set the cruise and the dash would show the cruse is off, I would push it on try to set it again and it would show off. Finally when I was in second and accelerating with a high rpm it set. Appears the issue may very well be the low rpm's. After that I set is quite a few times in 2nd and 3rd generally around 4400 rpm. thanks. :ohyea:

Well 4400 is above the 3300 i stated. But I also said if rev too high anticipating a shift it will not So range is 3300-7700rpm i guess hope this helps

For the health of the engine you need to keep it above 4000 as much as possible. Nanny keeps track & the tech will chide you during the next checkup if you run it under 4000 a lot.
