There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

From what others have reported, that sounds about average. Its in the ballpark anyways. They are probably getting around $90 - $130 for the oil change and the rest is labor to do the various checks, probably 2.5 - 3.5 hours. I think ours would have been in that $300 price range but we have the Best Plus warranty and that service was covered by the warranty.

I found a couple of other references to the cost of the 600 mile service that others have paid. Some have been reported as low as $160 but others have been over $300. You could shop around a bit but, if you trust your dealership and their service department, its probably best to stick with them.

What needs to be done is standardized, it is in the owners manual. Now it comes down to how long it takes your mechanic to do it and what is the hourly rate they charge. Also, what are they charging for part i.e. oil, filter etc. BRP can not dictate what a shop charges for labor or parts any more than they can tell us which dealer we have to go to. Even if I found a dealership that charged less than my current dealer, he would have to be awesome for me to change dealers. I am very happy with the service I get and feel they have been more than fair in the pricing as well.

I've got a great relationship with my local dealer. 6 sportbikes and a quad before the Spyder, so I think I am thier favorite customer...LOL
Plus they are only 2 miles from the house and they will pick me up when its done if I ask.
Looks like I will stick with them for the first service and anything I cant do myself. After this one, the oil changes will be done in the garage..

I have the BEST Plus warranty so mine either cost me nothing or $1500 depending on how you look at it. :roflblack:

I believe the auto industry is standardized. Ford, GM, they have a list of repairs and the time it should take to complete repair. Customer is charged based on this estimate. If the mechanic is fast they make a little extra, if he's slow, not so much. I'm not sure I want someone working on my Spyder under this format. The guy starts going over the alloted time and he begins getting hurried putting things back together. Just my thoughts.

Most Spyder dealers do their service under "flat rate", too. Standard to the vehicle repair industry since shortly after the internal combustion engine appeared on the scene. It can either work for you or against you, but it is hard to find an hourly shop. (Those have their drawbacks, too. The manufacturers supply the dealers with lists of specific jobs, along with the normally allotted hours to do each repair procedure. The rate for the service is up to each dealer, the hours are standardized. Most good mechanics can beat flat rate for simple jobs, without rushing.

$326 with tax and all parts. I was surprised at the high price but they did go through the entire checklist, checked all the required torque values, checked alignment, connected to the computer and did the oil/filter change. I thought it was about $150 too high but we decided that at least for the first service we wold use the dealership simply to make sure there aren't any warranty issues and because I didn't have the time to go through all the things you are supposed to do at the 600 mile interval.
We'll make a judgment call at the next interval based on how the Spyder is performing.

1. 5 quarts oil (4T 12x1 Blend Q) ........... $49.75
2. Oil filter ........................................ $11.88
3. Filter-Oil ....................................... $17.99
TOTAL PARTS ................................... $79.62
Labor: 3 hours at $85.00/hr ................ $255.00
Miscellaneous shop supplies ................. $6.99
Total with tax ................................... $348.76
