There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Do the last 4 numbers on my VIN indicate my GS is one of the Premier Editions?

So another member, Gamer, posted a question about what the characters in his VIN represented. Which got me thinking...
My 2008 GS vin ends with "...8V001838"
So, this past Friday I was riding with a group, and a fellow member, Trbayth, mentioned something about the plates that came with the Premier Editions. Now am I correct that with the last four numbers on my VIN, ...1838, that this would indicate that this was one of them? Without being able to contact the previous owner, being I purchased mine used from a dealer, can anyone shed some light on this?
I would wonder if it is possible to get a replacement plate if in fact mine meets the criteria?

The 2008 GS premier edition had a plastic tag in the handle bars
one side said premier edition the other side had the production number

Agree..!!

:agree: the last digits are the roll off number. Don't know how high they went, but yours is the 1838'th off the line...

Thanks Garb,
I'm assuming you made a typo and it was intended to be
"on the handle bars"...
Just wondering if the pervious owner removed them as some weird souvenir. I'm hoping someone will post, or pm me a pic. Just need some confirmation if my particular GS qualifies for said tag.

As I recall; they were labeling "PE" bikes right on up to about 3,500
(Randy had 3,492...)
:congrats: on a good find; now it's time to make it right!

Thanks Bob. One member pm'ed me, hopefully I will get a picture. Just curious to see where the plates were attached. Also wondering if there was a secondary location.
I also want to see if there is a way, if in fact mine is a P.E., that a replacement plate can be acquired.

My '08 GS has a # ending in ...8V003068, and on the rhs of the handle bar cover it says Premier Edition #3068.

There was nothing special about my Spyder other than being #3068 off the production line.

Something like this??

This is from SledMaster...

These trim pieces were already applied when I bought the Spyder and I wonder if the plates mentioned are underneath. Hmmmm...

If you're gonna remove them; please be careful!
And of course; we'll want to know what you find!
Good Luck!!!

Bob, I plan on doing a little checking in the morning when the light, and my eyes, are better. lol.
But knowing my luck, I will remove the farkle to reveal the previous owner has themselves a reminder of their Spyder.

Well seems like the PE plaques are not there - bummer. I will have to wait till I break out the hairdryer to safely remove the handlebar farkle to be 100% sure, but it doesn't look good.

Maybe you should just call or email BRP with you VIN and ask them if it is in fact a PE and, if so, could they provide a replacement badge.

The worst they can say is No.

Lol! Funny you should say that, Roger, doing just that tomorrow!
