• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I've looked & looked

anyone know where the "how to" is for hinging the part of the seat that covers the gas cap...as in the seat side becomes the door which can swing to access the gas cap without raising the seat

thanx

You are describing the Corbin seat as it has the gas door. I am not sure the factory seat pan is stiff enough to make a kit to do what you describe; you may have to get a Corbin saddle.

Someone here on the forum has a thread with details showing how he modified his seat for that very purpose.

You can also get a gas door in an Ultimate seat.

But I've seen someone's stock seat that's been modified like you describe, but I can't remember who it is.:dontknow:

Is the spyder ryder from WA that put a gas door in his stock seat...nice job...send him a PM (his name is Randy)

that's IT ... thanx
brilliant idea

BTW, how is it holding up over time ? (it looks like it's been a year)

It has held up fine for the last 12,000 miles
however in august I bought a new Corbin seat because I like the seat area better
I am thinking of cutting the Corbin the same way on the opposite side to check the oil

Please don't cut up that Corbin. I mean, isn't your 1330 oil tight like everyone else's?

hinge lol

place a zip tie around the mechanism that locks the seat and wala you have a unlocked seat no need to kill the bike

Dont have to cut off my 2014 rt

my issue is my wife's bum knee and her strong desire to just stay seated on the bike while I fuel up. the other is wanting to stack our gear across the seat while both off the bike and my refueling. All make the raised seat a problem.

THAT'S THE GOOD NEWS

On my 2015 RTL you do not have to kill the bike to raise the seat or open the trunk. Just push on the key and rotate.
.....Here's the BAD news,....the stress the cables put on/into the ignition lock mechanism can cause the KEY to break................FIXING that problem is north of $ 400.00..........just a thought ......Mike

Good to know, mine works very easily right now, but I am sure that may change over time with a little corrosion.
I will keep watch on it.

:yikes: You should never have to burn down a perfectly good ride, to make a point...
Which is: :lecturef_smilie: Shut your engine off, before re-fueling the beast!
