Questions/Observations: my new used '14 RT Limited

does below pics indicate a belt guard already installed

any clue what this extra piece is
it has a "water temp thermometer" embossed in it

I think I need a new back tire ASAP

anybody know where the engineer who designed the location of the valve stem lives ? I'd like to pummel him or her...

This piece belongs under the Frunk hood on the right side

he is the same guy that hid the Coolant Tank where you can't get to it.

That is the stock belt guard, the aftermarket one goes on the other side of the belt. I rode to Alaska and back on a bunch of gravel roads without one and I didn't have any trouble with my belt.

I have to decide...I lead many funeral missions with the Patriot Guard Riders and frequently, family cemeterys are in the middle of the piney woods of MS at the end of a long gravel road.

The "extra part" with the thermometer on it is called the RH (right hand ) service center. It covers access to the coolant tank and BUDS connection socket. Be careful removing and reinstalling that you don't bend the electric switch for the frunk lock.

The rear wheel valve stem is an engineering marvel!

1- We marvel at the ludicrus location
2- We marvel that the situation was not corrected on the 2nd run of wheels.

Some kind of punishment is definitely in order.

I found it and it's back where it belongs

btw, a bonus is under the zipper is a tender pigtail
so now I can follow that wire to easily find the battery
woo hoo !!!

In the last two pics it looks like the belt is running up against the flange. If so you need to get the belt tension and alignment checked. The belt should be about a credit card thickness from the flange.

JT's dual fill hose works great to inflate the rear tire.

spending my black Friday with AIW (Angelic Italian Wifey) headed for Hattiesburg Cycles in MS for new tire and laser alignment

stock tire $187 ride in labor $100 laser alignment $150

I will mention the belt alignment on the pulley be checked

next time will be car tire after I learn how to pull the wheel

will check back in this evening

My apology for not mentioning this in my initial post. I agree with other commenters that the rear wheel valve stem location is a PITA to service. My solution is this extender from Harley: http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/valve-stem-extension. You can easily use it by positioning the valve stem anywhere between 3 and 6 o'clock as you view the wheel from the left side of the Spyder. It could be a big inconvenience saver should you have to use it on the road as your emergency compressor or CO[SUB]2[/SUB] cartridge tool can easily connect to it.

I am thinking of installing a longer stem which should clear the rim and make it possible to check tire with out standing on your head.......The replacement stem is about 1 1/2" longer. Any tire place has them.

Do you actually use this ????.....Because I think it would be more difficult to screw it onto the OEM valve then just adding AIR the way it is now. Also my personal experience with the screw on type is they lose air while you are putting them on and then taking them off..........Mike :thumbup:

I have one and use it on a regular basis. It screws on very easily does not lose air and makes it a lot easier to check air pressure and fill. It was only $10 and I wouldn't be without it.

It seems to me that there should be an adaptor similar to what I have seen on a few tractor-trailers, where the valve adaptor makes a 180 and goes out towards the right side. Might add a little too much weight and cause a balance issue though.

The battery is behind the zippered cover. Unzip that cover and there will be a large black plastic cover held on with two screws. Directly behind that cover is the battery.
