• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

No more ECO mode for me!

Decided to try ECO mode out and see if there was an improvement in fuel use. I had not realized how much power you lose when in that mode. i was passing a truck on a two lane and when I accelerated to pass I did not get a whole lot of response and almost had to abort the attempt. So, no more ECO mode for me, The 1330 has plenty of power to do those things and gets good millage to boot.....

ECO Mode slows down the throttle response...

I prefer the more peppy version of shifting and do not use the ECO.

I usually shift between 3000 and 3500. By ear, but I have it down pretty close. I find the 1330 very comfortable in sixth from 40 and up. The downshifting on the 1330 is also smooth and quiet (no clunks), so I let it do what it wants on the way down, unless I want to shift it down one to punch it (very rare), lots of low end torque to just twist and go.

Gas savings for me were about 1 to 1.5 mpg--so not a consideration in my riding scenarios.

Tried it once, never again lol, it felt like someone was riding the brake pedal for you lolol. As much as I appreciate the better mileage compared to my ST, the only time fuel consumption will be an issue is when I need to find a gas station lol

There has been plenty of discussion on here about the ECO mode, just do a search. It's completely useless and a total waste of space on the Spyder.

My chief problem with it; is that your attention is drawn away from the road...:yikes:
Now; If that green arrow was projected up onto the windshield...

Experienced riders don't need that dumb green arrow to tell them when to shift. We keep our eyes on the road where they're supposed to be, and know when it's time to shift by the feel and sound of the engine. Possibly a quick glance at the tach. ECO mode is useless.

I never use ECO mode. And as to that green arrow, I figure I can either watch the road or watch for the arrow. I think it behooves me to keep my eyes on the road.

wouldn't it be a novel idea if BRP did away with eco mode and put in a switchable nanny for sport, regular and rain riding like most every other manufacturer with tourers and sport bikes offer as standard equipment!! :yikes::yikes: Tie that into programmable suspension and you'd have quite a sporty package.:clap::ohyea: Just a thought for ya BRP:thumbup::pray:

Last month Traffic was stopped on the highway for road construction. I decided to go inro the settings and fiddle a bit while waiting. After a bit traffic began to move slowly and then it was time to "go". Holy crap, something was seriously wrong with the spyder, it was like I now had a tank of bad gas.:dontknow: It had no guts going up through the gears, I was about to pull over when I realized I had inadvertantly engaged the Eco mode.:p

Well that was the first time and last time I'll use that. As others have said, I've always used the ear method for shifting.
