This old fool let the witches and goblins overwhelm him today....instead of buying halloween candy I traded my ST-L for a 2015 F3-S. Is it possible for an old fool to have a ball with one of these hot rods???? I'm betting on it and will let you know after I get the first 600 miles of taking it easy finished.....no quick stops; no over-revving; no running at constant rpm (vary speed and rpms); get used to the little nuances of the F3, etc. Now I'm looking forward to the first oil change and searching for the answer of when to go to full synthetic....planning on going to Amsoil i think.

I just did my 1st change after the 3000 checkup and oil change. I went to synthetic. I use Casrtol 10-40 4T motorcycle oil. I sure could feel the difference in shifting!:thumbup:

My FJR1300 got too heavy for me to move around the garage safely. I just got my 2015 Spyder RT. I love riding the Spyder. Quiet, smooth, more power than I will ever need and it looks cool as hell. I chose to not allow physical limitations prevent me from doing something I really like. I had two choices. Sit on porch and watch the bikes go by or make equipment adjustments and ride with them. For me it was a no brainer. By the way I just turned 67.

I do love to ride and miss it when I can't....like yesterday when it was 30 degrees at daybreak. Guess it's time to check out my Gerbings gear. Oh, but listen to me....and you live WHERE?!! :bowdown:

I am 79, 80 in Feb, and I am enjoying my F3s more than I did my RT Ltd, and I loved my RT.

Not only is it possible to have a ball on one... I'm banking on it:yes:. Mine is only a little over 3 weeks old (in my garage), and I too am working on the first 600. Coming from 2-wheels (H-D Fat Bob), my initial miles have been spent "unlearning" a few things and I'm making progress with each ride. Trouble is... here in the Midwest, it won't be too long, and I'll have to put a cover on it for the cold and snowy months. But, according to the long range forecast, I should have a few days yet in November - at least I hope so.

The break in period on the 1330 is 600 miles. But the first service (including first oil change) is at 3,000 miles.

Yup, that was my understanding too. Not sure I will get the 600 in before the weather shuts me down - but I might.

Didn't mean to mislead anyone...yes, the first oil change is at 3000 miles. I'll have the dealer do the first look over and oil change, then I'll buy the filters, etc. from Baja Ron and do them myself.
Now to get used to the different RPM's and shifting pattern with the 1330 engine. I'd just gotten comfortable with the high-revving 998 engine (old 2-wheel riders do have some adjusting to go through, don't we?! :doorag: :thumbup:

I ryde all my machine as I will after said period but only watch the constant speed/rpm. So hum drum cruising is out for now, not fond of it anyway...congrats on the new ryde..:2thumbs: little more than a bag of candy but the taste will last for much longer...:roflblack:

Now that there is the new F3T and F3 Limited, which are more to my liking, I just might go for it myself. I'm 62 and will be 63 in March.
