• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How far would you go to avoid long lines?

Going to the DMV in Las Vegas is an experience - not a good one - the nearest office is 4 miles from home and the wait is usually long so today we took a detour to renew the plates on one of our vehicles. 267 miles and 3 states later we have the tag renewed and we only had to wait for 2 people ahead of us. Life is good.

Way to go...!!

I do it online then take a long ryde...:roflblack::roflblack: but your way works...:2thumbs: always nice to be legal....

You can renew your vehicle plates in another state?

No, we rode from Las Vegas into California then back to Nevada to the DMV in Laughlin then across the river to Arizona and back home. The direct route to Laughlin is a little more than 100 miles but we had to pick up Joe's KTM on the southwest side of town and that is why we hit California.

We saw several Spyders today, I think the snowbirds have returned.

Online is the way to go

I renew mine online, then select to pick them up at the court house which is a couple blocks away. The clerks all know me so as soon as I walk in, they just hold up my new tabs/reg and I jump the line (if any) take them and walk out.

:agree:???!:hun: My STATE wont even do the STATE required inspections out of registered parish :banghead::barf:quite the pain in :cus:.not to mention the catch 22 for motorcycle endorsment(can only get insurance after you have endosement, that requires you to have for DMV test! State makes you find a company that will give temp policy ,then good luck) Only thing seems to be fast is the fines & crooks out on bailnojoke:dontknow:

I'm with you on avoiding long lines. We can do it on line here and save a $10.00 local fee by doing so. The ride idea was a great one.:yes:

NC DMV has an antiquated system that makes you go to different locations for different services, no one stop shopping. But they let you renew vehicle registrations online and they have a combined system wherein you pay your property taxes at registration renewal -- a distinct step forward.

When we checked online this morning there were 89 people in line at the local office. Many of you live in places that are much nicer than Las Vegas, places where people take a shower or bath before going out in public, where they change their babies diapers before they go inside. As I mentioned we didn't know that the rules had recently been changed and our exemption can now be taken without having to go in person. In the future I will renew online but it was a gorgeous day to enjoy and we did just that.

Next week I think I will ride to Lake Havasu City, AZ for lunch, it is 125 miles each way and they pretty much have food just like we have in Las Vegas but I guess I just like to ride so I will.

Great ride

We like to ride. The line at the DMV gave us an excuse to RIDE! So, we had a wonderful ride on a perfectly beautiful day! Bikes running great, feeling good, no conflict on the schedule. A great day!

:)

There's this secret here in Las Vegas called DASHPASS - lol
Glad you enjoyed the ride! ;)

Well, here in NY..

I personally try, best I can, to stay away from the DMV. But, on those rare occasions when I do have to visit, I have a foolproof system to make it quite enjoyable.
First, bring something to read, usually a fishing related magazine. Second, something to snack on and a cool beverage. Next, get ready for DMV BINGO!
Wait till your number is called and scream B I N G O !!
Better yet, bring some friends, bingo cards and markers. And when your number is called, have you pals throw their cards in the air and act disgruntled.
The lovely DMV employees will laugh and thank you.
