• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder RT Limited Stock Seat

How comfortable is the stock seat? I know the aftermarket seats r expensive. I plan on doing long distance touring with it. How many miles can u go without getting off the bike. The first things i plan on getting is a bump plate, and missing belt guard.

Thanks, Lois

I ride on my stock seat and my butt is fine with it. I can usually go a couple of hours easily. But every butt has a different personality, so you will hear other opinions from other people.

:agree: all fannies are not the same..I felt I was sliding forward in the stock seat and was to far forward..

I had an Ultimate seat on my ST it was a little better then stock. My RT seat is not bad for being stock has a little bit of a lumbar support that helps. For now I'm keeping it stock.

I've done 600-plus mile days on the stock seat...
My butt doesn't seem to care. :D
But yours might!
Now is the time that you should be listening to a real ass...

...your own!

So mine was fine for awhile but in about a month I knew the stock seat wasn't going to cut it for the long haul. I got hold of motorcycledave.com a sponser here and had him send me his gelpad memory foam combination. I installed it myself, not hard to do. and have enjoyed the ride ever since. I rode 2500 mi to Sturgis and back the 1st week of August and did not have any complaints as far as seat comfort went.

My butt has done only 40-50 miles on a dealer's test ride. Because of my size I ordered a BRP comfort seat to replace the stock one as part of the buy. It has been a delightful gamble; I got a comfortable seat at a substantially lower price than a custom aftermarket seat..

I have a bead seat I use and my wife has one also. But I like not sweating so much and I'll agree listen to your ass.

I managed to achieve my Iron Butt on the stock seat.
Of course, I'm sitting on pizza I ate 25 years ago, so I might have a bit more of my own padding than most.

Stock Seat

Two Airhawk R's made a world of difference for my wife and I. A bit pricey but way less than a new seat. They have a "you bet your ass" 90 day money back guarantee that they will double your riding distance. Neither of us could go an hour with the stock seat and can go half a day now or until you need gas. Cooler too on real hot days. The "R" is the right one for both driver and passenger. Just takes a very little bit of air to make it perfect. Will almost look and feel flat until you set on it. Don't over inflate! This product works..

Do the Airhawks make you sit up higher?

Seats

I have a stock seat with beads and a sheep skin on it. After 400 miles or so my butt is a little bothersome but I have not plans
for a new seat. I ride a 2013 RTL.

BRP comfort seat and "Sheepskin Factory" fitted full cover sheepskin. So comfortable, makes you want to go Baa-Baa-Baa all the way home. The BRP comfort seat is much less than the Ultimate but maybe not quite as good looking.
