• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Discount Tire DOES NOT want your business

HMMM, interesting, I just went to their website (Discounttire.com) and right below where you enter your car/truck info, it has a link where you can search for tires based on their size/brand/winter tires/trailer tires/ATV/UTV tires....seems they do want my business. They have the drop down menus available to those who don't want to go out to their vehicle everytime they need to research new car tires.
that is what I did when I ordered my General Altimax RT 43 last month. I got the tire on a Monday . No problems Deanna

I agree the 215/60/15 size has more options and they work great. Right now the best rated one is the General Altimax RT 43.
:agree: with you on General Altimax RT 43 on the ratings. I bought a General Altimax RT 43 last month I do not notice a difference. Deanna

No I agree. Why play games.
I bought my Kumho through Netzley Tire.
If Kumho dosn't want our business, then I say, vote with your checkbook.

Deanna just added one; I'm waiting to what she has to say about it... :bbq::bbq::bbq:
Bob, The spyder handles Awesome and I do not notice anything , and I am happy with the General Altimax RT 43. Also, when it comes time to replace the rear tire in the future( 10 years from now) I would buy an other General Altimax RT 43( if they still make it).

Yes, I have driven the spyder on dirt roads and it handles fine. Deanna

I also just bought a General Altimax RT43 rear tire, it gets installed Thurs. I have a trip to Canada the end of the month in which I will probably hit rain at some point, might be a bit but I will post my opinion of the tire after I get some miles on it in both wet and dry conditions.

Discount Tire

Last month I bought a General Altimax RT 43 from Discount Tire( thanks to Blueknight911 for the suggestion) and I do not notice any differences, and the spyder handles Great and I have ridden on dirt roads, have been on long trips.

In the future ( 10 years from now) I would buy an other General Altimax RT 43 to put on the rear of my spyder again. I am very happy with my General Altimax RT43 rear tire.

Dry conditions on the road: no problems, the spyder handles great, nothing unusual, excellent deep tread, (see my pictures of my "General Altimax RT 43 on my rear tire" and look at the tread it has.

Dirt/Gravel Roads: It grips the road. I will post here how the General Altimax RT 43 handles in the rain. Now I am dealing with the DESS KEY CODE issue. Deanna

It's not Kumho that's selling you/him the tire....It's Discount tire that's the issue !!!....Kumho would love to sell you their tires ......and if people would just order the tire by size and brand it wouldn't be an issue.....The problem arises when people start asking and answering questions about the purchase !!!!!!!.............But what do I know ...I've never had a problem doing it this way...............Mike

If you have REALLY followed this saga Discount tire was contacted by BRP telling them not to sell to us. Do some searches you will find it. Telling them what tires you are getting from them you are setting them up for another call from BRP. It is BRP that is trying to maximize their profits by limiting selections. Actually there IS a bead difference between a car tire and the rim on a Spyder. That was posted along with drawings of the differences between motorcycle rims and car rims. Basically a car tire has a slight chance of the bead not sealing correctly and coming off the rim. Do some searches on the Kuhmo and you will find the differences. All that said I have a Kuhmo wrapped up in my garage. I used them on my Vette never had any handling issues or hydroplaning. Of course any tire will hydroplane if it is in deep enough water.

I remember that there were diagrams of the differences between the bead on a car rim, and the one on a motorcycle rim...
Does anybody remember who posted those pictures; I lost my computer that had them... :opps:

Ding Ding Ding!! :firstplace:
Thanks, Dave; I figured that you'd know where it was hiding! :2thumbs:

I supposed that the $64,000 question becomes:
Which wheel type has BRP been using on the Spyder? :dontknow:

You are aware we do not have GOLDWING RIMS on our Spyders......and spyders do not have TYPICAL motorcycle rims ..........Soooooooo how this applies to OUR TIRES and RIMS, I don't get it ??????.................Mike
Show us what the Spyder rim is then before you dismiss the info. You can use a pin gauge on a kenda tire vs a Kuhmo to get the tire profile. Gives us some info before you tell us we are wrong.:dontknow: I am betting the Spyder rim is a lot like GW rim prove me wrong.

:agree: All that we need to do is have someone check their rim out, and report back to us...

If we even had a Dealership that had two rims laying around: A Spyders, and any other motorcycle rim; that would work!

Sure does not look like a car rim to me. Look at the huge bead humps just like the motorcycle rim above. Car rims don't have that. There is no dropwell either. Only difference I see is the cut down on the sprocket side to allow for an angled Shrader valve to be used.
