• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Spyder Issues

My Spyder Accident happened on January 24th 2009. The Spyder was taken to the Shop on January 26th 2009. The shop has been working on it since. On Thursday May 14th, 2009. I finally got the call that my Spyder was ready. I went to pick it up on Friday May 15, 2009. I took Spydie for a brief ride to make sure everything was OK, and it was. It operated beautifully, no problems at all. I loaded it up on the trailer and took it home. I got home, off loaded the Spyder. Everything was still fine. It was a great day.

After putting everything away, I decided to take the Spyder for a couple of hour ride. I started it up drove less than ½ a mile then it lit up like a like a Christmas tree. I got the following error codes.

VSS Fault
ABS Fault
Check DPS
Check Engine Light came on
Oil Light came on
Parking brake Light came on

You name it, and it turned on. I turn around went back home. I did the normal troubleshooting steps. I check the relays (replaced a couple), they were fine, the Error codes did not clear. I check the brake fluid, Oil level, coolant level, all were fine. I took the plastics off, and checked all the electrical connections everything was fine. I disconnected the battery for an hour, even that did not reset the system. I could not get the codes to clear, or any lights to turn off.

On Saturday morning, May 16, 2009. I was getting ready to load up the Spyder, and my Trailer had a flat tire. So off to the tire store I go to get it fixed. Wouldn’t you know it, there wasn’t enough tread for them to do a repair. Therefore, I had to get new tires. Back to the house to load up the Spyder. I get it to the dealer, the service folks see all the errors codes, they were perplexed, they have now Idea why the error codes are showing. The only thing they can think of is; Due to all the sensors being replaced, they must have to go into the BUDS system to re-synchronize them. Of course, the only tech that knows anything about the Spyders or the BUDS system was off. Needless to say, I turned around and went back home Spyderless again.

No telling how long it will be in the shop this time.

Perplexed

Mamma said there will be days like that.

Sounds like the dealer didn't do something right. Keep us posted, would like to know what could cause that. (probably something simple):gaah:

I got a call from the dealer today. Everything is fixed. I also got a call from BRP. BRP saw the above post, and stated they had contacted the dealer to verify everything was corrected. and to make sure I didn't have any other issues with the Spyder. I thought is was very nice of them to do a friendly follow up

I'll be picking the Spyder up tomorrow.

Did you ever find out what caused the power steering to freeze up and cause the accident?

No, nothing official.

I picked up Spydie yesterday. Just to get the kinks out, I did 150 mile ride. The bike is running great, no problems at all. My left knee has a few issues with the Canyon runs, but that is gonna take some time. Overall I am very pleased with the repairs.
