A couple of days ago, I gave out some wrong advice... pps: It was caught by a very knowledgeable member in here, and it got me to thinking...
If I had the owner's manual for the machine in question,; I could have looked up the right answer, instead of "winging it" with what I know about my RT...

I open the link almost daily to give advice to people, it beats walking out to a hot garage to get my manual out of the Spyder. And yes, you have access to all of them, I was even able to answer a question for the new lady from Mexico on what psi translated to in metrics. I just chose the Canadian version.

I sure wish more people would read their manuals, they wouldn't have to ask the same questions over and over and over and over again.

Head Scratching

If you want to do some dandruff disturbing look at the recommended oil capacities in the oil change maintenance sections and tech spec sections of the 2014 and 2015 RT and the F3 operator's guides. Is there a common 1330 ACE engine amongst the three different models?

Jay, late in 2014 BRPCare posted here on spyderlovers that there were new specs for the amount of oil for the 1330. I was surprised that they did not mail a new page to owners like they did when they changed the maintenance schedule a few years ago. I'll see if I can find the link for you. I have been using the lower amount of oil since then.

Great, now I can't find it. I actually thought that the online manual had the correct information. Hmmm. Anybody know where this post was? I thought it was in August of 2014.

I'll second that!!! There's a wealth of information in there. All you have to do is look.

BRP is unfortunately not updating their on-line manuals. The current 2014 RT manual shows the old oil amounts (page 126 among others), the new oil level check procedure (ride 9 miles, idle 10 minutes, etc -- page 124). But they forget to tell you that oil level check procedure in the oil change instructions, instead just saying the level is correct when the oil temp is 176F. Like we're supposed to know that. The '14 manual also does not have the torque spec for the 36mm filter (page 126 spec for the two drain plugs). The 2015 manual shows the correct oil amounts (page 120 among others), the torque specs for the drain plugs (page 120) and the filter (page 121). The 2015 manual shows the oil level check procedure (9 miles, etc. -- page 118). In the oil change procedure section, they now add the statement in Step 17 -- "Refer to Engine Oil Level Verification in this subsection" -- as a way to tell you that you have to check the oil level following the procedures on page 118. But it's easy to overlook that statement, especially after 17 steps!

I have a 2014 1330 but always check both '14 and '15 manuals to see if they updated anything before I work on the bike. Along with my shop manual.

Thanks for this info.Though I bought mine used Ido still have the original paper manual.It is still nice to be able to just be at the computer and think of a question and go there without having to go get the book.

Yup, same here. No manual showing on iPad for the 2012 RT. Looks like BRP isn't Apple friendly yet (but then again, neither am I).

Now that I'm adding other the manuals for other models and years; it's making me feel even smarter than I already am... NOT!

Just to show you how anal I am, after I made the deposit on my 2015 RT, I had two weeks before I could go pick it up. So I downloaded the manual and put it on my Kindle. I read it cover to cover, taking copious notes along the way. :read:

By the time I picked it up, and had it down.

Mine is getting all greasy - from frequent use. I think I'll end up printing the pages relevant to whatever I'm trying to do, and leave the paper manual kind of clean & there for the future.
