• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How do you lock the ignition?

I turn the key counter-clockwise toward the little lock icon, and it doesn't go anywhere. I have to turn it back to the "Off" position to get the key out. What's the trick to this? I've looked in the manual, but can't find anything.:banghead:

Thanks

Have you turned the handlebar all the way to the right or left, before turning the key to the lock position? I have a 2012 RT Ltd and this has worked fine for me. If the handlebar is not turned ALL the way to either side it will not lock. On occasion I have had to turn the handlebar just a tad more while turning the key to lock. Once in the lock position, it should pull out easily. Do not push down and turn key, just turn.

No I haven't tried that. It seems odd that you would have to do that on a Spyder. I can see it on a two wheeler. I'll give that a try, but I hate turning wheels while not moving, bad for the tires.

Thanks for the tip.

Correct, You have to turn the handle bars all the way to the left or right. Then turn the key without pushing the key in and remove. This will lock the glove box (RT model). I also recommend Lamonster's IPS (in Plain Sight) key holder. I often leave the key in the ignition covered by the IPS; all the time in my garage, almost always during short stops and occasionally when making longer stops such as restaurants, etc.

Easier turning...

I don't like turning the wheels either when not moving. So, when I pull in (or back in) I finish the maneuver with the wheels turned all the way in either direction. Then when I start up, I put the Spyder in gear and roll out of the turned stance.

The manual explains how to lock the ignition, but it doesn't really help with the "grinding" turn at a standstill. Like I stated, try thinking ahead when you park if you are going to lock the ignition.

BTW... I have been admiring your frunk insert. I'm also a bit envious of your color scheme too. Very sharp!

Once you get used to it, it becomes second nature to turn your handlebars all the way to the left or right as you pull in to your parking place and the bike is still in motion. That way you don't have to do it from a dead stop. I pull into the spot hugging the right line and then start turning in as I stop.

Also, once in a while I forget to close my "glovebox" all the way which prevents you from locking your handlebars even when you have them turned all the way. I'm like sitting there trying to push my handlebars further to get the lock to work when the open glovebox is the problem! :opps::banghead:

Amazingly this is in the MANUAL!
