We Have ALL Got To Try This Car!
Only Tesla would call this driving mode "Insane"...

This is interesting in that I just sat in one this morning. Didn't take it out for a test ride, but now I just might have to.
The problem is I could never afford one.

Not sure why you need that but,
that's INSANE! I want to try that.

Someday, electric cars will be a practical alternative to gasoline powered cars rather than an expensive novelty.

It is only the cost of 3 or 4 Spyders, Right?

Where does electricity come from?

If you don't slow down, they can't catch you..
If you don't give up, they can't win.
What a long strange journey its been.

My 1973 vintage GE Elec-Trak E10m lawn tractor powered by six 6 volt deep cycle batteries can do the same thing, well sorta. Okay, maybe not. But it is fairly quiet.
And last summer I pulled my neighbor's 60" cut ZTR Grasshopper out of a ditch.
And many years ago in a tug-of-war, I drug a 14 HP Cub Cadet backwards up a hill on blacktop. That smart as kid never made fun of my electric tractor again.

Uhhhhhh, steam plants, nuclear plants, solar panels, wind turbines, hydroelectric generators - same places we get it from today. If your point is that we will have to increase the electrical capacity on a national scale, I certainly agree.

i have a customer who recently got rid of his lotus & picked up the tesla. he loves his new car, sells the
acceleration is better then a ferrari or new vette. as for charging the car tesla has charging stations that can
be used for free & you can find on the tesla gps.
the best feature that he told me is upgrade on the car are downloaded into it for free & it is virtually maintenance
free.

Even here on the Left Coast, where there are charging stations all the way up I5 (Mexico to Canada), electric cars - even the Tesla is useless for most of us as a daily driver. You couldn't even use it to drive down and watch the Ducks play (assuming you wanted to)....
Up here, if you live in Portland, you probably don't have a place to park, and if you live outside of the city, your commute pushes the limits of most EVs.
The real future lies with the fuel cells. Ultra clean, uses the most prevalent fuel in the universe, and gives performance of a IC vehicle.

You are correct - Lithium-ion.
Tesla is currently building a Battery Plant near Las Vegas that will be the largest in the world and should insure their supply and cut costs as their supplier cannot produce the numbers that Tesla needs and the packs run arould $40,000.
I was told that they are releasing an SUV later this year and already have pre orders for over 300,000.

So you COULD drive from Portland to Eugene on one charge. Assuming they retain the 4 hr "fast charge" time, and a 400 mile range, it would only take an additional 16 hours to drive from Seattle to San Francisco.......

Drove my cousin's a couple of months ago, the single motor one. Nonetheless, impressive acceleration for an EV. Sadly until economy of scale brings prices down, one won't be in my garage.
Would love to have that kind of performance in a Spyder however.
