Have had a trunk on our plate for about 6 months or so and haven't had any problems. used 3/8 bolts with aluminum tubing as spacers and it bolted to a 1/4" aluminum plate, then bolted the trunk to the plate with 3/8 bolts.

The ghetto version is to forget the trunk and just mount a regular suitcase to it. You will save hundreds of $ !!!

You can also use a old milk crate and save even more money or better yet, one of those storage bins at Walmart for under 10 bucks.

Tie it on with a rope. Don't matter if it drags a little

From what I've seen on advrider.com, many of them mount a Pelican case to the back. Tough and waterproof.

I wanted to mount a GIVI V46 monokey box on the wifes spyder. We decided to buy just one top box and use it for both her spyder and my Connie. So.... I got on the phone with Phil Ham of Phills Farkles and he machines a beautiful replacement rack for the Connie 14 that has the SW-MOTECH kit installed. This allows the monokey top box to be put on and off the rack with just the simple turn of a key. I was able to get two of these and mounted one of them using three SS bolts to the top of the spyder sport rack. I had to shim the rear of it to clear the spyder tail but that gives the top bag the same angle as the Corbin bags on her bike. When installed it looks like it was made for it. It works really nice having the option to put the box on either bike and swap it out in a matter of less than a minute. I think I posted this some time back when I first did the install and may have even included pictures. If needed, I will try to post some again if there is an interest.
I also emailed Phil with some pictures and asked if he would be interested in jumping into the market of making one specifically for the spyder that would just go in place of the sport rack. Wouldn't that be nice!

Default mount trunk on sport rack top plate ? & 1 electrical question

thanks for all the info and i decided to add a trunk to the top plate ... so..

i ordered the E55 LUX from Givi rep here (Thibault Import) , 6 weeks later am still waiting for parts to finish the install...bummer...they tell me parts should be in by weeks end

1 electrical question... the trunk comes with LED brake lights and a 3 wire(black/white/blue) connect kit; white for positive, black to negative ; both to the battery...and blue for the brake light circuit...

the blue gets connected to the orange wire in the loom ?

    confirm or correct me please
