Are you getting close to buying or are you just going to test it out? I know you have been wanting/saving up for 1 quite awhile.

Remember, it's NOT a motorcycle! Yes, I know that is obvious, but it took my brain awhile to realize that. And until I got my head to think differently I had problems.

    Just relax and enjoy!

So it didnt happen. Yesterday when I called he said all I needed was my license. Well then today I get down there and he said I needed that and proof that I have motorcycle insurance before he could let me drive it just "in case I wiped it out, because they are $16k machines"

Lets just say I wont be going back there anytime soon.

I took a demo ride when they were first giving them out in the fall of 07. I had to fill out some paperwork and show my license, but no mention of insurance.

I hope there is another dealer near you. Or you can come to WA and ride ours.

There is another dealer around here, actually there are a few. But they are about an hour or so away...

I will get on one, sooner then later.

My dealer, and my BMW dealer, both carry their own insurance. You have to sign a waiver that says you will pay their deductable. Some dealers even make you provide a credit card with a limit high enough to pay the deductable, but I have never heard of any dealer requiring you to have your own insurance. Every state has different rules, but in Michigan the owner of record carries the insurance.

My dealer asked me to fill out some paper work and I had to show my drivers license. I made it clear that I didn't have a motorcycle endorsement but I would ride it around their parking lot if it was a problem. The dealer said you can take it down the road if you want. I came back and purchased ole blue. The only problem was/is the demo had a hindle and now all I can think is that blue needs a little growl.

Looks like it would be tough to sell to the thirty and forty somethings that never owned a motorcycle that BRP was originally targeting without a demo ride.

I did get the feeling that my dealer would not have let me demo at all if he didn't have either a used or demo spyder.

    ***Warning***
If you think you got it bad now...it will only get worse after the demo.
