Ok, so I finally got my F3 and based on all the data I could find the blue ridge winshield was the right one for someone that is 5'8" tall. I took my first long cruise today and discovered that my head is pretty much in the center of the "buffeting zone" If I duck down a couple inches Im all good and if I raise my body a bit, I get more wind but less buffeting. What have others done? Route 29? Maybe an additional lip on top of the BR? All info will be appreciated. Thanks
My wife went with the Madstad and loves the adjustability. There were days on her RT that she suffered in the summer heat due to too much protection from it's huge shield. The Madstad with it's newer brackets has proven to be the best of all worlds in terms of protection as needed.
Although I've been reading the site for some time this is my, I'm sorry if any of this is outta whack, this is my first post. I'm not really sure how all this works but I would like say that I have a selection of 2015 F3 windshields for sale, I have a Route I29(?), a BR and a Gustafsson for sale. I haven't thought much about a price but just checking if anyone would be interested!

What size gustafsson and price? If it's shorter than their tallest one (20" I think), I'm interested.

Save your money.. I feel it is safe to say that the shields sold by Mother BRP are inferior to what is available in aftermarket land. IMHO, F4 makes the best shield out there for the F3, It is a few bucks more but it is worth it. I have used them on other bikes and you can actually wash them with out scratching the crap out of them. I have ruined a couple OEM shields by cleaning them with paper towels. I think F4 has a video of them rubbing their shield with steel wool and it survives..
Again, they are a little bit more but watch their post here and their website as they run % off specials from time to time
5'-11"
18" Windshield. This number is the height in relation to the windshield sitting on a table not the total length.
If you go this route 2 things:
1. I recommend sitting on your Can Am and have someone place a tape measure from the bottom center of the Blue ridge and extend it to a point you are happy with, say 2" below your eyes. Give this "total length" number to Gustaffsons.
2. Remember to purchase their drill bit because you will have to drill the mounting holes. This is easiest with someone holding the windshield in place while you mark the holes.
This is the cheapest route if you already own the Blue Ridge.
5'9", but with a sheep skin so add a little more height.
I have a tinted 17" Guftason with the MRA x-creen. This allows me to adjust the air flow depending on the weather. On warm days, I can adjust the x-creen to flow the air on to my helmet vents without buffeting. When it is cold (now), I adjust the flow over my helmet, I stay warm and there is very little noise or buffeting.
The Guftason matches the look of the F3 and provides good protection.
On my wife's F3 we just used the Blue Ridge with the MRA x-creen and she is 5'5". Again, the air flow can be adjusted. No complaints from her.
However, I feel that the aerodynamic design of the F3 is not optimal for reducing back pressure or buffeting. I have owned numerous bike that have had minimal windshields and yet wind flow was quiet with minimal beffeting. Back pressure, however, has remained a constant nuisance at speeds above 65 mph on all my bikes.

I also added the x-creen to my br shield and am very happy with it.
I was complaining to a friend about the buffeting around my helmet( I am 5' 8" ) and he told me he had the x-creen at home and never used it. He said if I wanted it I could have it. So the price was right and it works very well.
I just ordered the Sport. Was just wondering the pros and cons of the sizes. Was wondering if anyone ordered the sport model and if there is any buffeting on the sides.

I went with the tall F4 customs shield and I'm 6 ft tall. Shield is great and have put alot of road miles on it. the quality and price are spot on
also after having many road bikes I can say distortion is not a factor with the F4 shield. Jim
