I live about 2 miles from that station. Have gassed up there. Drove by there today and saw the big black spot left by the accident. Be careful out there folks!!!
i have a friend that sits on his bike with the engine running and fills up.....
Geez, is he aware of the damage that gas can do to sensitive skin even if it's NOT lit?! And if the liquid soaks your clothing around that area of your anatomy, only getting naked and pouring copious quantities of water over those sensitive bits will lessen the damage!!
Either way, lit or not, you can get horrendous & permanently disfiguring 'burns' from gas spills; something you'd sorta think most people would like to avoid on those arts of their anatomy that are likely to be pretty close to the gas cap & any potential spills while you are filling while sitting on the bike!!
There again, maybe it's Darwin & his theories at work.... But no matter how stupid it is/he may be, you still probably shouldn't encourage him!! Or the bloke in the article above for that matter!

Wow! Absolutely Amazing! How can someone be so oblivious? I hope there is no one here that would ever consider doing this with any gasoline vehicle of any kind. I am really sorry for this guy. But I have to believe that this was not the 1st time he's done this. Not only does he endanger himself but anyone around him.
If you see someone doing this, get away from them. Don't let their stupidity bleed over onto you!
When I see someone doing something stupid at a gas station, including smoking, I head on down the street. If its the only one around, I stay out of the way until they leave.
Sorry the man got hurt bad. Thoughts and . I would not wish that on anyone.

I live about 5 miles from there, seems like there's a Shell and a Conoco at that intersection.
Can't believe there's another 2014 RTS Cognac so close to me.
I resent it when people even try to engage me in conversation while I'm filling the tank. It just takes too much concentration to do it safely.
