That's about 7 weeks earlier than their usual roll-out...

Well, that would explain the deep discounts on current and older model stock. My dealer told one of the travelers who was in the market that he just shipped his last two new ones South to another dealer in the lower 48.

Is something "big" about to happen??????

Maybe they want to unveil in Sturgis to strut their stuff in front of thousands of naysayers and skeptics to show Can Am can play with the big boys just fine! This is the 75th anniversary of Sturgis. Means there will be hundreds of thousands of bikers there. Nothing like trying to rain on HD's parade! I understand it's not quite a Harley's only event like it was many years ago!

    Why Sturgis?
After all; it's largely known as an event dominated by a competing brand of bike.
Sure: other bikes are welcome... but my admittedly "very limited knowledge" of it. tells me that the folks attending there might not be necessarily in the market for a Spyder...

When we were at Spyderfest, one of the Can Am directors (he was in the picture for the delivery ceremony) and a photographer were out walking around the parking lot taking pictures and asking owners questions about their Spyders. He said that BRP was looking to pull their new model year announcements (and initial deliveries!!) earlier in the year, more in line with what the car manufacturers do. So this appears to be in line with that statement. I suspect they realized that they can get more excitement for the new models if they're first available at some other time than the dead of winter in the northern tier states and Canada. I'm looking forward the announcement!

From the reports from last year, the Spyder demo rides were packed at Sturgis last year. The Harley dealership in Sioux Falls can hardly keep trikes in stock and our Spyder dealer has sold a bunch within the last few weeks.

I think it makes sense for BRP to announce at Sturgis as a lot of 2 wheel riders will be wanting or wanting to move to 3.

No more V-Twins? I agree! I also say an upgraded(HP) 1330 for the Limited's. Tom

    Default Say it isn't so...!!

I may need to buy a spare engine in case I out live my RS V-Twin with 106 Horse's... I'm rooting for the bigger twin...it has been a great engine in not only the spyder..why mess with perfection unless to better it...

Would be nice to have an early heads up though not for brp especially there...

Chewey--, Don't get me wrong about the Rotax V-twin, it's a great engine.....That being said , my take is it's in the WRONG platform. The 998 was never meant to be wrapped up in plastic....which has caused un-told HEAT problems even for the RS and GS crowd......They had to run the engine RICH ( hence poor gas mileage ) because gas actually acts as a coolant, to a certain degree....If they come out with a frame similar to the F-3 for the V-twin then I think it would work ....other-wise the 1330 is far better as the power plant.......AND I THINK THE BEAN COUNTERS ARE GOING TO GET THE FINAL SAY IN THIS ONE .................JMHO.......Mike

I don't think there will be big changes in the lineup for another year or two. I do not care what they announce as long as there is some improvement. I don't think the v-twin is so awful either. I definitely think they could move up to the 1190. Something a little closer to 150hp would "force" me to put another horse in the stable.

    Just sayin'............
Three in the garage, and I think I can fit at least one more in.....and then we will have to build another garage.
The roads in NY are so bad that I am glad we bought a Ryker Rally

    Just sayin'............

    LEANER LEANER LEANER

    Sorry, had to be said.

Actually, I still think that at some point BRP *has* to put smaller displacement, cheaper RS replacement. Whatever model efficiencies may be gained by going the 1330 route for the entire lineup is VASTLY undercut by the price jump such a move represents. The RS has already crept up in price to $20K, which is simply waaaay too expensive for the "starter Spyder"; adding the 1330 to that would just make a bad situation even worse.

IF they would bring out a smaller, lighter, maybe 1 seat Spyder, with a 600 to 800 cc engine and a CVT w/ reverse, they'd be covering almost the full spectrum of the market. Especially if they could bring it in for under 15K.

Default smaller capacity triple yes please

Agree, agree. I reckon a smaller capacity triple - BRP have one in one of the sea-doos, the 'spark'?? - would be great, and positioning it as the entry level is ideal. It would be an ideal platform for expansion in the Japanese and Asian markets - we in Oz and elsewhere can "piggyback" on their numbers. I completely understand the more-power brigade but here in oz the max speed is 110 kph - note kph - on some interstate roads, with the rest lower. (Except a few roads in the Northern Territory) If I followed the book/guide, I'd hardly ever make it into 5th gear on my ST !! I for one would line up for a 900cc triple, just wish it would fit in my ST. It would "sell" -- how about on the F3 base?? Could be called F 2/3rds haha.
